Guys,

There were 30 slips available this afternoon. I am heading there to lock in a slip tomorrow and running back. I would recommend that you call 631 597 3109 and check before heading out or you can call me. You both have my cell#!!

Ok well Friday I'm looking to leave around noon after wwork there calling for 2 -3 footers building 3-5 later on. I'm comfortable doing it but will my boat b able to handle it. Or should I leave Thursday afternoon around 5 In 2-3 foot seas?

Coastal Waters From Sandy Hook To Manasquan Inlet Nj Out 20 Nm-
Coastal Waters From Manasquan Inlet To Little Egg Inlet Nj Out
20 Nm-

Fri

SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft.

Fri Night

W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft.

Sat
W winds 10 to 15 kt...diminishing to 5 to 10 kt in the afternoon and evening...then becoming N 10 to 15 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 3 ft.

Looking at this forecast all I can say is that it will be very bumpy ride for you. You'll be going against the wind and with 2-4'ers they can be also more than that, it's not going to be a smooth trip. On days like this I'd say your best bet leaving very early in the morning when the ocean is still "asleep", otherwise the afternoon might kick your butt.

Thanks Alex I'm gonna try to leave Thursday evening. C what happens with work. First time really going offshore my furthest point from land is 15 miles mid trip wish me luck

Yeah, this looks better for you. Just make sure to leave enough time before it gets dark. Trust me, you don't want to be in a knew waters when it's dark. Leave at least 2hrs for the crossing and another hour for navigating from the inlet to the marina. This gives you some slack, but if all goes well it's a comfortable approach.

Well I made it there without any problems got a little bumpy the last 5 miles approaching snake river inlet but nothing more than a little chop. Had a great weekend belmar is a lot of fun and tons do. Packed if this morning untied with a forecast of 3 - 4fters got intro the ocean and It was more like 7-8 . That was very interesting. Just having to go out to turn around safely and return was quiet the experience. I was with a 53 carver and his hole cabin was destroyed just from rocking around for 5 minutes. Coffee machine broke tv's laying everywhere you get the point not mention he lost the port engine while entering the inlet coming back in After making the wiser decision to stay. . So my boat is still at belmar running up dock fees while I'm at home . Not to mention the 're calling for huge seas for the next week so there it will sit until atleast Sunday

Not really they dropped more from a daily rate of 2.25 to a weekly rate of 2.00 lol not to much of a break and it looks like its staying till atleast the 16th with the conditions they are calling for this weekend and having to work next week.... gunna b a big bill :-( but I will go enjoy this weekend on it and make the best of it. Maybe even next weekend

How long was the trip?
Thinking of making the run weather permitting.....

32 miles just under 2 hours straight from inlet to inlet when are you thinking of going? Big seas for the rest if the weekend and early next week its not a bad run at all same time as fi just in the ocean. If you don't run the coast. But if you run inlet to inlet as I dI'd you will be 15 miles off shore for a good 45 min. If and when you decide to go gimme a call you have many number thereis a couple thing you should know about the waters and bridges

Belmar is hosting its first annual Feast of San Gennaro festival this coming weekend. So at least there will be plenty of food!

This story brings back memories.

20 years ago, my friends and I would rent a house on the water on Barnegat Bay from Memorial day to Labor Day. We did this for at least 5 summers. At the end of every summer we would have to move out and take our boats back North to the NY Harbor area. (Bayonne) I can't remember a single trip North at the end of the summer that we weren't getting pounded by big seas. On one trip, I took my friends 30 Sundancer home for him with another friend. We were both wearing wet suits and life vests for the trip home. Seas must have been 6 to 10 feet. At one point off of Long Branch a rougue wave hit us on the side and rolled the boat what felt like 90 degrees on it's side. That wave flexed the boat and cracked the wall/bulkhead down in the cabin. We made it back home exhausted and with very littel fuel to spare.

Those years taught me not to plan any ocean trips after August 15th. You are smart to wait for a break in the weather, but with back to back hurricanes churning things up, you might have to wait a while.

Good luck.
