Hello, I am a first time Sea Ray owner (bought 99 370 EC 1 week ago). I have owned a 89 21' Donzi for 5 years and am very excited about my upgrade. My question is this. We have 2 digital flat screens in the cabin. It appears as far as I can see, that all the coax cables are connected correctly and the Glomex amplifier lights up (stronger red the further it turns clockwise) but I get "ZERO SIGNAL DETECTED" on my tv's. Any ideas one what this might be. I am thinking I will have to get a ladder and go up to the antenna and take that apart. Has anyone had this kind of issue before with Glomex Antenna?

Many us have had an issue where the coax came pulled loose from the saucer. This could be the issue. Problem is you will need a special tool to screw it back in. You may be able to use needle nose pliers to rech up in the saucer to screw it back on though.

Thanks for the heads up with the needle nose. I'll give that a try.

Welcome to CSR & Congrats on the new ride. :smt001

Do you have a Digital TV Converter Box ??.

Once it was hooked up did you run a station search?

I went and bought one from Radio Shack but it made no difference...still zero signal. I then thought that would not matter as both flat screens are digital.

A flat screen TV does not mean it has a digital tuner to receive channels.

The Glomex should have an amplifier. It needs to be tunrned on.

My boat came with a flat screed ED (enhanced definition) TV and it was not digital. I removed it and put in a new LED flatscreen and my problem was solved. Are you in an area where stations can be picked up with an antenna?

Yep...amplifier is turned on and lights up (stronger) the further I turn it clockwise. The flat screens are 1-2 years old and say Digital right on the front. I'm assuming they have digital tuners built in. Also bought Digital converter from Radio shack and made no difference. Thanks for the feedback. This is a great website for help. Appreciate it immensly being a first time Sea Ray owner.

We are in a substantial river valley with not great reception but should get some channels instead of all of them saying "zero signal detected". Talked to other boaters on our dock and they said they recieve channels so I'm thinking it's got to be something disconnected in the antenna itself. It might have came loose when they shrink wrapped it for the winter.

I believe that somewhere on your boat you should have a two-button switch labeled something like "Cable / Air". Make sure that the switch is set to AIR rather than CABLE. AIR = ANTENNA.

Also, on the television, did you have AIR or ANTENNA selected as the source (as opposed to cable) before doing the channel search?

I hope this helps...

I tightened the connection in the antenna itself and it helped slightly.....by slightly, I now have 2 channels. I think the problem is the valley we are in just gets terrible reception. I'm almost ready to go with Dave B's suggestion and strategically placing it in the Dumpster. Are there any better Antennas out there short of buying Dish Network or Direct TV? Our marina does not have cable access. I don't spend a lot of time watching tv while on the boat so I really don't want to ante up for a monthly subscription for satellite but it would be nice to at least get local channels for weather and news and such.

I would not recommend throwing it in the dumpster; seems like kind of a waste considering they have a lifetime warranty and a great track record of honoring it. The only real alternative you have for a marine Tv antenna is a Shakesphere Sea Watch. Based on what I have heard it is no better than a Glomex.

Bottom line is many of us receive digital stations on the Glomex just fine. There must be a problem with the antenna, AMP or TV unless you are just in a bad area to receive stations in which case nothing will really help. The Antenna and amp have a lifetime warranty- and they will honor it.

Otherwise you could get a KVH Satellite antenna but that is a couple thousand dollars.

My boat came with the Sea Watch antenna and it doesn't do any better or worse than the Glomax antenna. I docked up with a few boaters form CSR over the Memorial Day weekend and we we're trying to get the Indy 500 and we all had to do a channel search. They had the Glomax version and we all got the same channels. It has to be your area. Maybe ask another dock member how many channles they get and see what their setup is. This will truly tell you if it's your set up or just the nature of your location.

Ok here is my problem which is the same but, here is what I have done so far without any results.
I am 16 miles from station antenna for reference to signal:
Put new Glomax antenna on boat. (Replaced under warranty by Glomax) I am not sure if the original ever worked as boat had no TV when I bought it.
Installed new digital flatscreen TV.
Installed new coax with new antenna to amp.
Amp lights up and has power.
No stations received during scan. 5 station transmitters within 20 miles.
Bypassed the coax in the wall and ran a coax from amp direct to TV. No change 0 channels.
I really do not know anything else to do. Is there a way to check signal from the antennna?
I did remove the TV from the boat and checked it and it works fine so it is not the TV.
Can the amp be bad?
Selecter is set to ship and not shore. (I have tryed both ways for piece of mind)
I have the gain set to the highest level.
I am lost!

Chances are you need to go to the set up menu in the TV and change the input selector to antenna instead of cable.
