Comparing Gauge readings - 330 DA

My boat is running great this spring, but for interests sake, I want to compare the gauge readings while at speed with other 95 to 99 330 DA owners. Here is a picture of my readings running just over 30 mph. Are these consistent with what you all see at the same speed?

I am wondering about the temp readings. This is what seems to be "normal" for my boat when at cruise, but they seem high to me. Both side's seawater pumps and circulating pumps were replaced in the past 2 years so I know they re working perfectly. My port amp meter is also reading lower than starboard and does "bounce" a bit.

The gauges look spot on, temps are just the way mine runs (slightly above the 170 mark). Your cruise speed is very good compared to some others. What is your WOT rpm? I run about 3200 RPM to attain the same speed, I have the 380hp motors turning 17 X 17.8" 3 blade props.

I think the WOT is a bit low of ideal. Its about 4200. The props are the EOM 17x17 3 blade. I had them trued up (not propscanned) this spring. Good to hear that the temps are in line with yours. I was thinking that I might need to replace the thermostats. I think they are 160s, which would seem to mean a 170 oper temp is not out of range, but wanted to be sure.

Hey All -

Picking up a 1995 330 next weekend and I cant wait  I wanted to get a head start on researching upgrading the stereo system. Can anyone tell me the number of speakers and sizes on this boat by chance?

Thanks!

Depends on what options. Basic system is two 6.5" cockpit speakers and two 6.5" In
the cabin ceiling. No subwoofer and no amp.

Hey all, considering a 07 310 sundancer. It has 313 on the motors with new manifolds and risers. I wanted a boat around 200 hours originally. How much should I concern myself over the extra 100 hours?

I had the boat surveyed and sea trialed and everything within the norm for a 07.

If everything else checked out in the survey and the boat has been well maintained I wouldn't be to concerned with 313 hrs. Good luck!

My voltmeters run exactly at the same spots too port lower then starboard. Mine bounces too. I blame the aging wet cell batteries in the port bank. Also if you have the blowers on that will bring the port side down a few volts.

Your temps are just a little higher then mine. Mine run under 170 just a touch under.

I read that WOT was 4250 for the 330 so you are pretty close.

I have 4 blade props and get 28 moh @3200 rpm. I like to run @3000 with some significant tab to get a 20K cruise.

as the above OP the speakers are 6.5 with a 10 inch sub at console
I just upgraded my reciever about 2 weeks ago. i removed the clarion mr1000r and put in a jvc arsenal reciever.
I went with an auto based one rather the the marine, since the head unit is in the cabin
the auto ones had a little more features than the marine ones for less money. My main concern was bluetooth audio
the reciever i purchased had cd,bluetooth,hd radio, usb 1 amp charge... It also has blutooth hands free, which I wired to both the cabin and the helm so i can recieve calls on the deck or inside. I paired it with a magnadyne universal rf remote
which floats and is waterproof. I had already upgraded the speakers a few seasons back .
A word of advice on the speakers. My boat had the holes a little small for the mb quart 6.5 marine speakers, I had to tweak a little with my roto zip t make them fit correct. also the clarion amp sounds fine so I saved a little by using the exisiting amp for now.

on my boat the amp was in the closet in the rear cabin. to get the wires run for my sirius radio feed to the head unit , i removed the sub woofer to access the wiring track, it is a bit tight and it uses the lower path
other wise a head unit replacement is pretty simple and about a 30 minute job

Conducted a sea trial on the 95 330 Sundancer I am buying. Everything went well except I was surprised to learn this boat did not have power assisted steering. The wheel is hard to turn. Is this a big deal or is there anything i can do to loosen it up?

I also don't have the hydraulic steering, it is the one thing I do wish i had, make it a bear sometimes to turn at speed, but for the most part i don't have any issues with it.
you could get it added later but cost would probably run approx 3k to do

Needing a little help selecting new batteries for the boat... I know size is 27 and that there are three batteries total, 1 house and 1 starting for each engine. My question is, could I replace the house battery with a larger one, say a group 31 or 34, yet still leave the starting engines as group 27? Or does this create a problem I'm unaware of?

Thanks... A little electrically challenged here.

I replaced my batteries last year with interstates. My boat also had 3 batteries but I increased to 4. The 2 batteries under the seat are starting batteries, 1 for the gen and 1 for the starboard engine. The 2 in the bilge are deep cycle group 29m. They are for the house and to start the port engine. You should have plenty of room because I'm concedering add 1 more deep cycle.

I have 4 in total,
2 under seat in parallel 1 on the water heater, and 1 right in between both engines
i have only seen one other 330 with this configuration water heater is on the same side as genny

Mercruiser recommends Mercruiser oil.

I use Shell Rotella T 15W-40 and have been very pleased with it. Rotella was designed for heavy duty use in diesel engines. It more than meets the needs of our little gassers.
