I just got off the phone and my boat will be here Wednesday!!!! They are picking it up from Ohio on Monday and I will take delivery on Wednesday of next week. Pictures and video (I hope) to follow!!!
 
my first boat.... sooo I need some advice.... i hear it is bad luck to re name a boat?? any thoughts?
 
my dad left it with the same name it had when he bought it from the guy in 1985... Ark and Animals... His nickname is Blue... long story... so I kinda want to rename it in his honor...

Blue (picture/sencil of a hound dog next to the name)

I'm the kinda guy who likes to hedge his bets. I've changed the name on both of my last two boats once I've owned them. That being said, I do the denaming and renaming ceremonies. Why not? They're fun and a good excuse to get family and friends together on the boat for a glass of bubbly.

The only downside is removing the old name, getting the glue off the gelcoat and then applying the new name. It really is a fun thing to do...

takking it off I can see be a headache.... do you think getting Vinyl would work?

I feel your excitement!! Going for water test a week today and have Sat May 5th delivery scheduled! WOOHOO!!
 
Douglas...you are correct. I'm getting the logo/name redesigned by my son who is a design, online guy. Then I'm taking it to a sign maker we deal with at work. He's making me a vinyl piece that is logo only. We wrap our radio station vehicles with it and lasts forever.

I'll probably go through a whack of Goo Gone when I take the old name off (respectfully) on the weekend.

Sounds like a good way to go then... i don't have a design guy so I will just go to the sign shop and get them to do it.
