This morning I went in for what I believed to be a 15 minute procedure, having an implant in my right eye.
It went very bad.
I was awake during the procedure. I remember the doctor saying he wanted a suture. Then he said one of the round suture not the straight kind. A female voice said they have those, should she open a pack. He said, no I’ll make this one work but make a note for future procedures.
From what the doctor told me post-op he had the implant in place then it swung into the eye. He things (thinks? Are you kidding me?) one suture is intact. If it lets go and the implant hits my retina I’ll be blind in that eye forever.
They sent me home. The doctor said they need to find a retina specialist that can see me soon and will try to remove the implant. Oh, don’t move around too much, don’t lift things, etc.
I just got home. I’m scared as hell. I really don’t want to be blind in my one eye. I’m waiting for the phone to ring with instructions on where to go.
