Official 280 Sundancer Thread

does anyone know what the distance is between the 2 stringers in the middle of the bilge is? i received my bilge heater this morning and want to install it this weekend. i was going to go ahead and fab a mounting plate that will be screwed into the stringers between the engines.

The only 3 I have noticed are the 2 GFI's and the starboard helm. All 3 are dead.

At the risk of asking the obvious, have you checked the current status of the switch labeled "OUTLETS/REFRIGERATOR" in the 120VAC section of the main distribution panel (upper left)?

I cut mine at approx. 40" on the 270. That was more than enough. What are you making it out of Scott? I did mine out of 2x8 pressure treated. made it long and cut to size at the dock.

Just covering the basics here:
Is your air conditioning / heating working? (Making sure you are plugged into shore power and main AC breaker is on.)
The breaker labeled ‘outlets refrigerator’ is on.
Did these receptions ever work?

Yes to all those questions. This is a new boat for me, first time checking them. Which outlet would be first in line?

Look at the master switch by the shore power connection. That may be off.

OK, to re-cap
#1) To make sure you are plugged into shore power and the power is getting to the A/C panel, is your microwave working? If your microwave is working we know you’re plugged into shore power and have the A/C panel on.

#2) Make sure the breaker labeled outlets/refrigerator is on. Is this breaker on?

You have (six) 110 volt outlets. Of the six, two are GFCI outlets. The other four are wired after the GFCI so if the GFCI is popped the outlet will not have power.

To answer your question about what outlet is first in line, their are two lines.

One GFCI outlet is in the galley above the sink, below the cupboard behind a sliding door. This outlet feeds the outlet behind the TV and to the left of the TV in the forward birth.

One GFCI is in the head inside the medicine cabinet and feeds the outlet in the cockpit by the driver’s seat and the outlet at the entry to the mid birth.

#3) Did you press the red reset button on the GFCI?

#4) Do any of your 110 volt outlets work?

#5) Have the 110 V outlets worked since you owned the boat?

Thanks for the explaination. The microwave does work. No power to any outlet. Never tried them before. Will investigate further tomorrow

Anyone had to drain the fuel tank? Any good ideas? Also looking for a low buck idea on keeping my engines from sweating while it's laid up for the winter. Thanks

If you have access to 110 volts, west marine makes the dehumidifiers that sell for about 70.00, they work great!!

hoping to move up to a 280 next year...what are the opinions on single vs twin power on this boat?
Thanks,
Dan
(sorry if this has already been discussed, I couldn't find it)

I normally don't do this- but....

Not only has it been discussed, it has been debated, argued about, agreed about and disagreed about time and time again.

Several times within this very thread. In fact I think every question that could be asked about a 02-09 280DA is probably asked and answered in this thread. I recommend you get a case of beer, then sit down and read away.

To be honest I think a lot of the more longtime members are probably tired discussing single vs twin. I know the search tool is weak but you will probably get way more info from what has already been discussed than you will get in response to this post.

Sorry, not trying to be rude, just want to make sure you get your question answered with the most info.

Agree....

Here's the condensed version of the conversation:

Q: Which is better, single or twin? 4.3 or 5.0?
A: Depends
