This is an actual film made of the surrender ceremony of the Japanese to MacArthur inTokyo Bay in September 1945.
Actual voice of the General. Never been shown to the general public.
We always saw the "stills" but never the film itself.
Historical Footage:
Japanese Surrender Signing
Aboard Battleship Missouri -
Sunday Sept. 2, 1945.
An important piece of
history.

Well, at least it has lasted with Japan and Germany.

wow... that is some awesome footage. I will never know why we have such access to great moments in history such as this film clip yet we do not bring it to our children's attention to let them grasp an understanding of what had to be earned. But yet when it comes to film clips that contain the horrible mistakes of our past, our children have seen them a dozen times each.

Bill, Nice to see your post... Miss seeing your posts this summer, hope all is well... Rod

Great video Bill, thanks for sharing.

Very cool to watch from here in Japan.
I'm privileged to be transporting some of Americas finest men and women in uniform.

Many people don't realize were still here, protecting Japan to this day.
There are some 45-50 thousand troops scattered around the many different bases in Japan.
The cost of freedom runs deep....

Thanks for posting the video link.
