I had a small amount of oil come out the weep hole on my A1 Gen2. I split the case and replaced the carrier seal and shift shaft housing assembly. This involved removing the water pump housing. I also did the water tube as it had a hole in it. I did not replace the water pump seals nor impeller. The impeller looked great.

All went back together fine. Filled up with oil and let sit for a few days. No leak. I'm pretty certain it was the shift shaft seal leaking. It looked bad.

I started her up today. I noticed that a lot of water is coming out of the weep hole on the side of the drive. I understand that area is a water cavity but when I started the port engine it only dribbled out the weep hole...

naturally, I think the engine is running hotter now. It ran under 170 like it always did but I let it sit at 2k rpms for little while and it got over 170 a bit. Back to idle and just under 170.

What I'm afraid if is maybe the water pump seals are now leaking water into that cavity...
All this is on the hose.

Thx for any help.

According to the Merc tech this is what it's supposed to be doing. The other drive that is just dribbling must have some debris blocking the drain hole.

It's likely getting a little hot because you're on a hose. Hoses don't supply as much water as when it's sitting in water. I don't recall the exact number, but I think Merc warns against going higher than about 1200 rpm's while on a hose.
