Allatoona Palooza

I just got an email for directions to "Five Fingers"...which is really a locality and not a formal place name. In case anyone needs it, here is the response...

Coming from the Woodstock side of the lake (Victoria, Harbor Towne, etc.) head toward the other end of the lake. Pass Allatoona Yacht Club on left. The lake makes a hard left hand bend about half a mile later. As you take the bend, you will see the dam in front of you. Look to your right for a fairly large waterway opening and turn in. As you enter, you will see Wilderness Marina over to your right. Go towards Wilderness, and past it (bear far to the right when you pass Wilderness…there is a reef between Wilderness and the middle of the channel). After you pass Wilderness, it will open up into a large area that doesn’t get a lot of activity. That’s where the group will be.

Coming from the Acworth side of the lake (Holiday, Allatoona Marina, etc) head toward the other end of the lake . The lake will make a sharp right hand bend at the dam (Park Marina gas dock will be on your right). Ahead about half a mile is a large opening to your left. Turn in there and look to the right for Wilderness Marina over to your right. Go towards Wilderness, and past it (bear far to the right when you pass Wilderness…there is a reef between Wilderness and the middle of the channel). After you pass Wilderness, it will open up into a large area that doesn’t get a lot of activity. That’s where the group will be.

For the map minded, it will be a little to the East of point 5 on the standard Corps of Engineers map of Allatoona (attached). Take the McCaskey Creek turn, then follow as if you were going up Stamps Creek, but go East instead into anchorage.

For the nautically minded…Latitude 34°10’34.66”N Longitude 84°41’10.84”W

As long as we are all well (physically, my mental state is always in question:smt043) by then we'll see y'all there.

If you are going to attend, be sure and register by emailing Carrie Baker on the .pdf (also feel free to invite your boating buddies) MarineMax says they have extra tshirts, prizes and give aways for registrants. Also, I think they will have at least one of the newer 350’s to show off.

Last year’s was very kid friendly, but also very adult friendly. Any questions, please feel free to email. I think we’ll be monitoring VHF Channel 68. Our MMSI is 338098774

Registered this morning..guess there's been an amputation over the years as this area was called "Seven Fingers."

We are signed up. See yall there. How bout ya Carter?

We are finalizing a trip to Germany in July, so I need to get the final dates from "the War Department"...as my Admiral is sometimes known...we will make it if we are back.

There has been some discussion about dates for Allatoonapalooza this year. It is DEFINITELY the 23rd. The current plan is for some of us to go out the 22nd and anchor up at Five Fingers. Ricky Anderson (the 47SB at Park) is working on getting the barge band we had at the AYC fireworks show (MM may step up for it, or we may pass a hat...no telling). Please tell your dockmates.

Just heard that MM had 70 boats signed up for Lake Allatoona Pallooza (400 for Lanier)

What a great weekend! Thanks MM (primarily Richard Hunter) and Park Marine on Allatoona. Probably a total of a hundred boats...about 50 cruisers in one raft up and several more smaller strings. Nice band on a floating barge. Lots of happy kids, nice boats, adult beverages, hot (in both sense of the word) women and dashing captains of industry and/or fiberglass. A couple of hundred pictures are at

Props probably go to Jay Hamlin, who anchored the original project a couple of years ago and it grew into this. Nice work!
