Who has ordered from them and when did you pay and finally receive the platform?

I ask because I ordered a swimdeck from them last week and was told they where 4 weeks out...well, they call today and left a message that it is ready. They want payment and a shipment address.

That's cool and all but is this a tactic for early payment and they are still building it and I won't get it for 2-3 weeks or is this how they do it?

I was under the impression I had 3 more weeks to wait?

I know, I read that a long time ago.

It just caught me off guard that they have it ready in a week. I was just wondering if this is their way of collecting payment before it's actually ready or did they collect payment and ship it right out???

That is a quick draw there, Dave.

My experience was great as well, but mine was n the middle of both of yours. I called, as I was deciding, and was told to expect a 4-5 week wait. Then when I called to order they wanted paid and I would have it in 7-10 days. I suspected as you, but it arrived on time in good order. Do closely inspect the packaging, the carrier had stabbed a fork lift tine through the box but no damage. If you have no experience receiving carrier shipments ask here for the proper protocols for inspecting, noting, and documenting damage. They package very well but dock hands can destroy an anvil with rubber hammers. MM

I just ordered one earlier this year and was quoted about a 4 week lead time. At right around that time, I got a call saying it was going to be shipped out within the next 2 days and they asked for my credit card information. They charged it on the day it shipped if I remember correctly and there was nothing sneaky or unusual about it.

My guess is that maybe you timed it perfectly for ordering your platform. You were after the people who were trying to get them in before splashing, and before anyone who may decide in the middle of the season to get one. This enabled them to complete it faster.

We just splashed last week and so far we love the utility of our platform.

Hope that helps.

Mike

I'd just ask them. I had a similar boat part experience where they wanted my CC for an order that had some lead time, I asked when my CC would be charged and was told when the item shipped, which was true.

I'll certainly take advice on what to do. It's going to my buddies house about 30 miles away. He has a tractor to offload and that's where we will put it on.

I have no way to offload it here at my house if it comes off a semi by hand. I'm not sure what the carrier will have to offload with and I read that it will be about 500lbs? Which sounds VERY excessive when compared to the weight of the platform. My boat takes up 2/3rds of my driveway and backs up to my garage.

"They package very well but dock hands can destroy an anvil with rubber hammers." That's why it's "excessive". Most common carriers only do "tailgate delivery" and that only on peices they can move by hand. Let them know to have the crate pulled back before they come to deliver it to you or have a lot of chain or straps. MM

I did mine a year ago from them. Last year it was 6 to 8 weeks. but I also ordered early so they could work backwards from the delivery date. Since I ordered early, I sent them a bank check about 6 weeks before delivery. I love the platform and 2 other boats at my marina ordered theirs this year.

It was shipped to the marina where they had a forklift to take it out of the tractor trailer it came in. The box is well built for transport and it is covered with a thick piece of rug to protect it. The only problem was the shipper lost it. It was found 24 hours later in the wrong state. They misread the label.

I have had mine for about 6 years now from them and we love it. I don't recall how long it took to get it vs what they told me the wait time would be, but I do not think that it took that long. I do recall that it was really packed heavy to make sure that it would not get damaged. They are a very good company and I would not worry about them trying to sting you in any way. I would get it, put it on and enjoy!

If your marina charges L.O.A you might want to think twice.

I was looking to add one on my 240, but it would cost me an additional $1022 a year in slip fees.

Now I’m charged for 25’ (24’10”) if I added the swim platform I’d be in the 27’ rate.

Slips: Boats up to 26’ L.O.A $214 per foot

Slips: Boats 27’ to 39” L.O.A $236 per foot

Even if you are in the same slip? I can see different rates for different length and height slips combined with a max limit of overhang. MM

I've gotten two from them in the past, have multiple friends who have purchased a platform from the company. You have nothing to worry about... never heard a complaint. Well, I had a boating bud who purchased their platform and the gelcoat was flaking off in small chips after 3 seasons. They replaced it for free...

I'm just waiting for them to build one for my current boat. Went through the prototyping, template process with my first one and don't feel like repeating it. I'm patient - I'll wait.

I've only heard of one complaint and that was not on shipping but the colour and install. The customer is still fighting with Bay Port Marine in Midland, Ontario over the product and the install. The bill to the customer installed on a 40' foot boat $4,000.00. I saw the boat and the colour match and the install is terrible.

My experience with them was very positive. They delivered before promised. My platform was damaged by the shipping company and they sent me a new platform at no charge and dealt with the shipper directly. My opinion is that you are OK here.

I'd installed both of mine myself, so no one to blame but me if I wasn't happy. However, the gelcoat of he platforms does tend to run a little 'whiter' than most standard gelcoats. The only manufacturer that seems to have so bright a white is Four Winns, who use a cooler white than the standard warm whites of most boat brands.
