When I run cable from dock hook-up direct to tv, I get great reception, when I hook up to cable hook up at back of boat I get nothing.
No TV picture

You probably have an antenna system installed. The signal from the antenna and the dock cable input run through an amplifier that likely looks like this:
You need to find this box, make sure it has power and adjust the gain control dial (I think the "dock" setting is all the way to the left). That should enable you to see the cable input on the TV.

if you don't have one of those, usual culprit is a bad barrell connection 
or the fitting that goes there. THe center stinger on the coax can rust out pretty quickly too. Generally the coax will not go bad other than at a connection point.

You may have to flip the switch from TV to Cable?

Thanks, I looked and found the control in cabinet by the sink, turned it off and got the picture.
