I am a new 2005 300 Searay owner. I have reviewed the manual but unable to locate the procedure and result of ,(attaching), using the shore water to the transom water spigot. Does doing this keep the water tank full all the time.
I have run out of water after a couple of weeks of using the water for routine dish washing and hand cleaning..
However, if left on.. is there an overflow problem?

Thanks much.

It is fine to use when you are there but I would NEVER leave a dock hose attached and running (pressurized) when I was not at the boat. If you had a line break inside, the results could be very bad. I can't see any reason why you would need to anyway. Personally, I recommend if you use that connection, shut it off when you leave the boat to reduce the risk of problems.

The city water inlet bypasses the tank - if it is empty it does not fill it - it supplies pressurized water (through the regulator) directly to the water distribution manifold - all functions (including the hot water heater) will function just as it does when you use the tank/pump

Connecting that line bypasses your tank and pump. The pressure of the city water provides pressure to all your faucets. Pressure is controlled by a regulator built into the connector. Sometimes these regulators get stuck or cruded up from lack of use resulting in low pressure. When connecting this way turn off your breaker to avoid using your pump and draining your tank. And as stated never leave the water supply on when leaving the boat. If something breaks nothing will stop the flow.

I'd recommend adding an RV style filter if you are going to use this for any type of drinking water or for cooking. And as other said, it does not fill up your holding tank. Be sure to get some type of water treatment to add to your water holding tank to prevent bad odors, etc. from building up in the holding tank. Water can go stale in there in a hurry.

I even turn off the water supply before going to bed at night.

The connection in the transom is difficult to get a good seal unless you tighten the hose very tight..at least mine was. I bought a quick disconnect fitting assembly for a few bucks at west marine that works great.

Dennis "Lazy Daze" had a decent install for attaching a coiled hose in his transom locker.

I would emphasize the importance of turning off your domestic water pump when using the shore connection. I learned the hard way that the domestic system can empty while using shore water, resulting in the pressure pump running continuously (at least mine did).
