My Mercruiser 2004 model is in need of major repair/replacement. Need to find a reliable repair shop, current mechanic is part of the problem.

I see this is your first post. Welcome to CSR.

I am not local to you therefore I have no local recommendations for you.

Let’s try to help you.

Can you give us details about your engine issue?

Is the current mechanic a Mercury certified technician at a Sea Ray authorized dealer or some guy with a pickup truck and a trailer? What did the person do wrong?

Ditto. Please let folks know so that other boat owners in your area don't make the same mistake.

R&M Marine up on Gaines Ferry and McEver got my 2002 190 Sundeck running great - impeller died on the 5.0L MPI, he had a new on in that day and had me on the water that evening... Robert is a great guy.

Good luck!

If trailering is an option, Ken Hill or Mike Griffin at Allatoona.

Crickets!

The crickets illustrate the problem...it is incredibly tough to find a reliable repair shop. Proboat, in Woodstock, has been awesome. He's also been around forever. However, expect to pay him and to work on his schedule, but the job will be right or he'll make it right.

I've had good success with the guys over at Marine Max at Bald Ridge. They know Sea Rays, but can be a bit pricey.

Crickets is right, which is why I started the repair sources thread - it is tough out there :smt001 However, in this case, I was referring to fact that the OP put up a first post that gave very slim information, was responded too, but then all that we got was "crickets". I guess that is the way it goes. :smt100

At least it gives me a chance to play with the emoticons.

OK JimWalker, welcome to the board, but you get a "fail" for your first post. Problem number one...pitifully little information provided to let the hundreds of people who watch these posts provide you with intelligent options. The very first response (37 minutes after you posted) requested critical information...namely, the nature of the problem and the path that led up to it. Problem number two, you didn't follow up with any information letting us know if you still needed assistance, had resolved the issue, or otherwise had changed paths. Good luck with your issue, hope it gets resolved.

Well, I guess that did it! So, now just who is it that has to buy the beer this afternoon?

That's funny. After I posted my irritated little mini-rant, I realized that you had done the same thing earlier...just with considerably more class.

We are just a different schedule. I had my mini-rant in the “What Annoys You” thread.
