My parents moved to Tampa when I was 10. I am 63 now and thank them every day!

(Not really a hijack).

If you could live anywhere within about an hours drive of Tampa airport.
Where would that be????
St. pete?
Apollo beach?
Sarasota area?
(I have to raise two small girls and keep the wife happy.

Also, should I have the boat in the backyard or just be near a marina?

I just spent 2 weeks in Clearwater area. Did 2 overnight trips to Sarasota and Tarpon Springs, and had a fabulous time! Ran into sea fog crossing Tampa Bay on the ICW, which was a little scary for my passengers, but we managed to crawl along until we found the southbound ICW markers.

In Sarasota we stayed at Marina Jacks docks, and had a great time. A lot of wealthy boaters in that area!

If I knew how to upload pictures from emails I will add those a little later.

To asnwer your question Wetpaint...I don't know why I still live in Canada!

Now your in my FL waters...It's the best boating place in the US, if not the world. Already have the retirement home down there, now just working on the retirment boat.

Check out Clearwater Beach and Belleair Beach. 35 minutes to airport, great water, homes somewhat reasonable, schools- well there are excellent private ones

I'm trying to move south too and it's not easy with kids. School is the biggest issue for us. I'm a consultant so I can work anywhere.

Ditto...the day the last one graduates HS, my bags are packed, the house up North is sold, and I'm off to the boating paradise...:thumbsup:

The schools in Sarasota florida are really good. Particularly Hign School if the kids go to the right one.

It is possible to buy a house in Osprey or Nakomis that are in the Ssrasota school district for about 500k with dockage.

Palm Habor University (public High School) in Palm Harbor (North Clearwater) is a good high school. They were ranked a few years back as high as 20 nationally, I think Hillsborough High in Tampa is now about 20 nationally.

I remember when my kids were young (before boating)...I always said I would move to the mountains as soon as they finished college. It didn't happen that way....when they got older and married, we weren't so ready to move away from them, and "possible grandkids". My advice....if you're going to move, move when the kids are young. They (and you) are much more adaptable to change at that point in life.

More towns I have to research....Thanks guys.

I can live anywhere so, I cant see staying up north.
My kids are in a great school now and the trigger will be high schools in a few years.
I am trying to target the area, which isn't easy.
