Just got back from 275 mile round-trip to pick up the new (used) SLED for my 250. The PO originally advertised as a 6000lb capacity. Turns out it was a 9100lb. A little overkill for my load but what the heck...I got a great price. I've been looking over a year and couldn't find ANYTHING in my area without going "new".

He had a 240 Sundeck on it before. I'm a little concerned that the winch post is short for my application. The winch is actually slid all the way to the bottom so I'm going to raise about 6-8". I guess I won't know until I sit the boat on it but it should be fine. Now I can do routine haul-outs and move the boat in three weeks without having to $$$ someone. I pulled with my 2005 Z71 Tahoe no problem. Happy Day!!!

I am not very knowledgeable about trailers but that looks like you made a good score for yourself....nice work....

I too picked up a trailer after an exhaustive search for my 270 Sundancer. I picked it up about 100 miles away, triple axle with no problems towing the boat to winter storage. Not that I had any problems towing with the Suburban I still think it would be good to have breaks on the trailer.

How do I post a picture in my message (Here is looks for an URL??).

When I was looking for a trailer for my 330 I was cautioned (by a trailer manufacturer) that one thing to be careful of with having a trailer with a capacity much larger than your boat weight is that if the boat can't compress the springs of the trailer enough it will result in a harsh ride over bumpy roads. That shakes and rattles the boat and could shake loose screws and fittings and cause spider cracks in the gelcoat.

You may want to see how much the springs are compressed when the boat is loaded and if the boat doesn't make the springs sag a bit you may consider removing a leaf from the springs. You can always add it back in later if you get a bigger boat or sell the trailer. Just sayin'.......

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about being "too big" for the boat. BTW, the trailer does have disc brakes on the front axles. I'm not towing any big distances so may not be that big of a deal but I'll check it out when I move in two weeks. Thanks again :)

Many states require brakes on all axles, but rarely check, until the plaintiff's attorney in a serious accident notices. :smt021
