Illegal Guiding for Wasilla Lodge Owner

Ahhhhh, the judicial system triumphs again. Good job for the Trooper who did the legwork (and apparently did it correctly) to make sure this slug got convicted.

In Iowa, what ever you use in the unlawful taking of wild game, you will forfiet it if convicted, and loose the privlidge to hunt, fish, or trap for a period of time too. This guy was not only poaching, he was poaching the system. Is a "Wildlife Trooper" like a game warden? Only 80 for the entire state of AK? I think we have about 80 conservation officers for the state of IA....

Come on Scott "idiot rules and regulations" and "hippies thousands of miles away make for an area they have no clue about".

I'm confused. I was born in Alaska, so I have some emotional ties there. But, Alaska is the last frontier. People who live up there have a tough enough time without having to abide by the idiot rules and regulations that the hippies thousands of miles away make for an area they have no clue about.

I don't know what this guy did that deserved that harsh of a penalty, but it seems to me that the law system in general has gone way too far when it comes to hunting and fishing in Alaska with the damn rules and regulations. Honestly, I don't know how people make a living up there, with the higer cost of food, energy, etc. and then have to put up with BS regulations that may apply for the lower 48, but certainly not Alaska.

Scott, your fears are not unfounded. Each year hundreds of proposed regulations are placed before the AK Board of Game and Board of Fish by L48 outsiders. Most if not all are rejected.

In Alaska Fish and Game regulations are proposed at the local community level/area. Then if it passes there, it is then elevated to the full State Board for consideration.

Yep same thing, except they are part of the Alaska State Troopers. Pure Troopers that issue highway speeding tickets are "blue" shirts. Wild life troopers are "brown" shirts.

Not many for the entire state is it? They do a great job. A while back there were issues with not enough troopers on the road or in the bush, so they combined all the troopers together. What they found out fish and wild life enforcement became non existent. So when Sarah Palin became governor, she separated them back to blue and brown shirts.
