Switching Marinas

We've been at the same marina for 11 years. We've moved once within the marina when we brought our 300 home. We have other choices in our pool, however some of the others are on the main channel, and some have docks that are in disrepair. Our marina is family owned, they are responsive to our boating needs, and offer certified Mercruiser service...so I'll stay put.

Skoble, if you can move to enjoy your boating lifestyle more...go for it!

We are excited about the new marina. Just time for a change. We have looked the last few years and we stayed at this marina as a transient and said this is it. The marina has a special with free rent from now till April. So we went ahead and moved the boat. The Marina is only 5 years old and has a pool that floats on the dock.

...I'm the biggest yenta there is and I could not break into the cliques at the new place...

Ron,
I can relate to this at my current marina. I joined their Yacht Club hoping to meet new people and make new friends. I made the effort but it didn't happen. Hopefully my new marina on Lake Michigan will be less clanish and more mature.

We have been at our marina for almost a year and we love it. We have made some new friends on the docks and the club has Captain Hour every month where people get together if they want. We have a pool and a social schedule. They also organize trips as a group so we can explore the area.
Nice place to be - at least for awhile!:smt038

Good gawd..... swimming pools and restaurants at marinas?

Maybe your not just at the wrong marina

Too many places to go and things to see on our BOATS here in the Puget Sound.

And before you dog pile on this rabbit, I'm just teasing

Pack66 - I know you're just kidding but if I were not at a marina with a pool, I'd be at the marina ALONE. Hey, wait a minute...hmmmm (!?)

But seriously, the misery that would be bestowed upon me by the females of the species would be unbearable. Oh hell, I love a pool too!

Understood......

Uh uh... No way. I love where I am at now. Central location, great people, the owners treat me real well, and the price is right. No pool, but there's always going overboard to fix that little problem.

The marina owner's opinion on do it yourself work, "Go for it, that's part of what makes owning a boat fun.".

They told me that they knew that I would be one of the the first 3 people to show up in the spring, so they moved my boat to where I would have easy access to power and water. Its one of the best spot on the racks for winter storage in the whole yard. Spring commissioning is going to be a breeze. It was really nice of them to do that without me asking them to.

So... unless something really stupid happens, I'm staying put. In so many ways, I feel lucky to be where I am.

Yes we are. Nice marina - Nice People. Have you stayed there?

No, but had a buddy that moved there right after they built it. He loved it. Just sold his 340 a couple months ago though. We have alot of St. louis area folks at our marina and have some friends at the duck club. They've been down to our neck of the woods visiting a few times the past 2-3 years. If its true folks haven't been able to get on the water until late-july or so 2 out of the past 3 years, I'd be outta there too.

We have had bad flooding the last 3 seasons that have limited out boating season. It has been idle speed a decent chunk of this last season. Hopefully the flooding will calm down. I may have looked at the 340. Was the 340 spotless in the bilge?

Cleaner than spotless if thats possible as he's a clean freak--he owns an auto detailing business. Name was Private Dancer.

Good luck this summer, I'd say you're due for some nice water. We've had some of the high water too but TVA generally does a good job managing the levels in the spring.

Yes that was the boat, it was cleaner than new - the bilge was super clean. Glad he sold it.

Our Marina is more of a Boat Club and has a Clubhouse with a full kitchen and Dining Area. It's very family friendly with lots of Member Events. We've been Members since I was 14 (1974) so I do have some pull. I was the grass cutting kid back then.....we have 8 acres of grass to cut along the river! It's beautiful! We have 56 slips and 16 of them are for Cruisers. A Cruiser slip is hard to obtain so I had my 23ft boat in one before I bought the 270. Since I had to back my Carlson into a slip to board it, I was allowed a larger slip even though it was a cuddy boat. We always had a 16' boat before the CV-23....we now have all three! I'm now currently the Treasurer of the Club and also have one of the largest boats. My family has always been treated well there and now the Cruiser Owners consider me family. I was always a go fast kid and now I guess I'm more mature now at 50 and have a 29ft Sea Ray. We are adding shorepower this year and that will be nice.....remember I'm the Treasurer! We have about 200 members and most of them are trailer boaters (Associate Members). Here's a link to the club http://www.westbranchboatclub.org/ You can see we had some high water before Christmas. I can't really switch Marinas.....were the only one, Mike.
