Bimini Trip August 19-23

We were out yesterday off FTL doing some snorkeling over a wreck. 86 degree water temp and clear but nothing like Bimini.

Looking forward to next weekend. If the weather is good I'll be at Big Game around noon Friday.

the ocean is really flat right now. I'm hoping it stays like that for the next week. NOAA says 2-3 feet.

Randy,

I hope it holds too. It was as flat as I've ever seen it this morning. People in kayaks a mile off shore in pure smooth water.

The bad news is that someone broke into my boat yesterday and stole all of my tools. What a PITA as I'm leaving in a couple of hours and will not be able to get a set put together before we leave. I may have to lean on you and Jack if I need any hand tools in Bimini. I can't even remember all of the unique things I had in the box but I'm sure I'll figure it out when I need them...

Tom

Edit- I just got done putting a list of what was lost for the the police. I thought it was $400 and it's more like $1000 when I total it.

Tom - what a shame, I'm sorry to hear that. Was the boat at a marina? They have decent tool kits at Boat Owner's.

You are always welcome to borrow whatever you need.

Nope. It was behind my house and the house is gated. The police were just here and said there's no doubt they came by water. They had tossed the inside maybe looking for a gun but nothing else was gone other than the tools. I may have driven up and they left in a hurry.

As much as I complain about he USCG boardings these Ft Laud cops were a riot. Total fun guy boaters with guns that love what they do everyday.

Crap! I guess I need to lock everything up.

Two pieces of good news: First, they said for the number of boats in the water there really are not many break ins. I'm going to be more careful locking up though. I might get an alarm pad too. The second thing was that they said I shouldn't take it personally getting stopped by the CG when coming back from the Bahamas. These guys get stopped every trip too. The big play is human cargo now more so than drugs. With drugs, the offender and everyone around them goes to jail. With the human cargo it's more of a slap on the wrist so it continues to be a cottage industry.

My plans are finally set to make this trip. I'll be headed over on Friday. I'll be leaving Hillsboro Inlet mid to late morning. Anya and the kids are staying behind. A friend, Kevin, from Chicago will be going over with me. We will most likely be taking the center console over instead of the Sea Ray this time. We'll probably leave Sunday afternoon sometime to head back to Florida.

Originally, I wasn't sure I'd make it. Then, I heard Ray might bring his blender, so I couldn't pass it up!

Darn...the blender and all. I will sure miss you guys while I am sitting in the "exciting" conference this week (8-5 daily).

Randy, You guys have a blast. It looks like you'll have awesome weather. We get one together later this year or early next.

Fantastic trip. Smooth water both ways. The picture below was taken in the middle of the Gulfstream on Friday. The weather had been very calm so the water was even clearer than usual. Randy, Jack, Ray and Mike taught me a thing or two about catching lobster. Thanks to all!

Thanks to all for a great time in Bimini, especially Jak and Marcia for hosting the lobster fest on Saturday night and taking us all out on his boat. A couple of pics .....

Once again an awesome time. It was spent with who I feel are the best Captains and their families I know. I can't say enough about what great people these are.
Bimini is too cool.

Ray, Randy, Mike, Jack-

I got boarded again even though I had a yellow copy from 4 months ago. I'm now 4 for 5 on getting boarded coming back. Did the CG stop you guys?
Tom
