Faulty water pressure sensor

I think it's pretty low at Idle but it's been soon long since I've used my boat I can't remember.

Reguarding the Water Pressure Sensor and the PITOT sensor I have an 2006 240SD and I've had them replace the sensors 10 times and they both still fail. On one visit from service they replaced it 4 times in 1 trip.

Then the location I was having it serviced closed and it's been swept under the rug and they won't fix it under warranty anymore even though it's never been fixed since it first failed.

If it wouldn't ALARM the whole time using the boat I'd just let it go as something that both MarineMax, SeaRay, and Mercury have no intention of ever fixing for me.

If fact MarineMax calls me on occation to ask about what they can do to help and when I tell them my problem I don't hear back again for a couple of months and then again they will call and ask what they can do and repeat. It's very aggravating

Like I said I don't remember what to low is. I do remember thinking it was very low when mine was working but MarineMax said low at idle is normal. I think that if your temperature is staying in the normal range you probably don't have any problems.

I have '05 350 mag/Bravo III
Sensor is reading 0.3 psi on idle and 0.7 psi on 3000 rpm
Boat runs great, temperature is around 158-165 F
Impeller is in great shape, so as the water pump, pipes are all clear.
What is the operating range for sea water pressure?
Is it a faulty sensor???

I run ~.2-.3 psi at idle but will achieve 7+ psi at speed

I just had this happen as I pulled into the marina where the boat was being kept for the winter. My general engine alarm was just beeping...they pulled the code and it said water pressure sensor... Its a 07 240 DA. You think this is under warranty? I'm also nervous because of everything I'm reading here about how often this happens...

I believe warranty period is 24 months. My sensor also failed the day of delivery so replaced under warranty. With all these failures you would think a redesign would be in order!

I have just had the same issue with a 240SD, does anyone have a diagram of the parts location in the engine ? it sounds like an easy fix ...i could do myself

Does any one have a recommended supplier?

I have 09 spec MAG 5.7 Horizons. In 300 hours and three years, these sensors have failed 6 times per engine.

Recently, Merc did recognize they were junk.

They determined that moisture was getting into the sensor between the brass housing and the black plastic on the topside to the electric part.

So now the "NEW" part, has a eurathane looking liquid seal running around the edge of the brass and plastic to seal it. After spending well over $1000 DOLLARS on SENSORS in the SAME HOLES, I was pretty happy to see something changed.

I installed two new ones, and still CRAP. Failed again on one engine in 90 days.

Does anyone sell an electical bypass connector to just be done with them forever?
