220 DA thread

I'm the new owner of a 1991 220 Sundancer also. I got the boat yesterday. I will try and get some pics up sometime soon. need to clean it up. It is awesome though!!!!!

eisenhauer01,

I have a 1991 220 DA, and it did not have shore power also, I added the 120v to the boat, it just had 2 batt's with a batt switch.
I also found a build sheet in the bathroom cabinet under the sink, so I have a list of what the boat came with, it was a speacial order.. shore power was deleted.. why ??? who knows.

I have had mine for over 7 years, its a Great boat you will Love it.

Does, anyone have an Air Condition installed on there 220DA ?
I have the window hatch one, but I would like to install a unit, to make it easy.
the only issue I see is where to mount the unit.
any pictures and sudjestions will help.

Thanks.

I have the OEM AC unit. I'm thinking its a Mermaid. it is in the cabinet to the left of the fridge.

thanks usa. I am sure it is not hard to adapt my boat to be able to have shore power but I honestly dont know when I would ever use it. I actually think it is really cool that it is battery only and self contained. I think I am going to get 2 optima dry cell marine batteries. one will be accessories and engine that I will run off of all the time, the other will be engine only incase my other battery gets too low to start the engine. I already have a perko switch. I need to take some pics of my boat!!!

Rock Hall,
thats what I was worred about, I have all of the cooking things in there (forman grill, frining pan's, etc...)
maybe the hatch is the easist way to go... for now.

eisenhauer01,
I keep my boat docked, so I use the shore power for the Batt chargers, and I added 2 outlet one for the fridge, and one for the TV and anything else that needs AC power..

its a Nice boat you'll Love it.

Hi guys !

This season everything has gone so wrong. Havent been boating since june 1th :-(
My Mercruiser 5.0 is causing me troubles again - this time valves have been bend and 2 cylinders aren't working.

Well, so I look for a new engine.
Do any of you know this company?

Or do you have any other suggestions?

I'll be picking my 1990 220 DA up Sunday afternoon. I hope to be on the water Monday. I paid 5k with a duel ax trailer. It needs some TLC, but there are many updates. Pics to follow Nice to meet you all.

sounds pretty cool usa. I probably wont adapt it to shore power as I dont really have a slip or anything. I think it will be a cool 12v boat. I am glad everyone here is happy with theirs. I am excited. The boat has been sitting for quit a few years so I have been cleaning it up when I am not working. This afternoon after work I pulled the 2 bilge pumps in the engine compartment and the float switches. They all need replaced. I left them wired up so i could just swap them out. The tilt on the outdrive doesn't work at all and doesn't try to work so I am pretty sure it is a wiring issue. everything back at the hydraulic pump looks good and I pulled the panel in the little bedroom or whatever you call it to check wiring there and it looks good all the way to the throttle assembly where the trim/tilt(trailer) switches are so I am leaning towards the switches? I could use a wiring diagram or someone tell me what is power for up/down and so I can check for voltage at the pump. Thanks everyone

I;ve had my boat for 5 yrs and have never used the AC. I do not have a genny. I need to be plugged in. in fact my boat would require 2 cords to use the AC. then I would have to prime the water pump. then worry about something getting sucked into the intake and blocking the water flow. So I fire it up at the beginning and at the end of the season, just to make sure it still works. We only use the cabin at night and I've never really found it to be too hot that a few fans wont work. But thats just me.

Check the trim limit switches. does the trailer tilt work? I think there is also a relay on the pump unit. check that as well.

I put a Jasper in mine. I used to work for them. they are a great company and make a good engine.

the trailer tilt switch doesn't work either. nothing happens no matter what buttons I push for the trim on the outdrive. I don't know anything about the limit switches. I did see the relay, or solenoid if you will, on the pump. I am guessing that when you push up wire 1 becomes hot and wire 2 becomes ground and when you push down wire 2 becomes hot and wire 1 becomes ground? like a power window circuit in a car? any input would be greatly appreciated.. I might not even be close on what I am talking about?!

i will try to get you some info on the unit. give me a day or so. I have alot on my plate right now.
