...I didn't actually "do it", I just wrote the check :smt001

I'm no angler by a long shot, but I've struggled with how to do rod holders since I bought my 260 new. I knew I didn't like options on the gunwale or lazarette. I needed something that would not interfere with using the camper canvas and I need to get rods off the deck. I don't fish much, but when I do I want the gear tidy.

Over the winter I saw a setup on a 340DA. The sales guy said it was from the SR Sport Fishing Package for the 340. They were beefy and a bit big for my little 260. So I went to a custom shop and had them made up. They did the whole deal in a day. Just brought her home. Spashing tomorrow.

They are fastened with through bolts and 5200.

We opted for large pads at the mount point, so they can withstand torque should I hook a grouper or something really big. :smt001

Too bad fireworks and boats don't mix, with the 4th here they could double as rocket launchers.

I have a 320.. I mounted 2 of rod holders similar to those on my grab rails (1 on each side) a few weeks ago and have been thinking about adding another 2. Your post just convinced me to add them.

That install looks slick tilted back. Can can leave poles in the holders at that angle while on plane?

Supposed to. I'll find out in a hurry tomorrow, but shouldn't be a problem.

I've been struggling with the same dilema. I don't like the idea of putting holes in the hull to flush mount rod holders, and the clamp on ones for the bar on the lazarrette just don't give me the warm fuzzies.

Wish I had the arch to mount like you did, they look great!

I have seen some clamp ons put on the bow rail just forward of the windshield. It didn't work for me, but without an arch there aren't too many other options, short of putting an arch on. You could always have a tube arch made, like a sport fisher or amberjack.

Looks like they belong there, Chuck!

By the way, how come your boat is registered in Mississippi? I thought you were a MA & FLA guy? Are you midnightin' in MS? :smt001

Hey, this is a boat registration, not a PO Box. MS is Massachusetts.

So it's different for a boat registration? I wonder why? That seems silly, doesn't it?

I only take care of registering sold boats that are in PA, I never knew the state abbreviation for boat registrations would be different.

Given registration numbers are done by the state and addresses by the US post office, why would two separate agencies (yes I know the USPS is quasi) actually talk to each other. :smt021

I not positive, but I believe the 2 letter USPS abbreviations are a fairly new phenom. Like in the 70's maybe. At least long after boat regs were getting done. So the USPS is to blame..

Government never ceases to amaze me!
