Delivery of your new 240 but now what do you need?

Welcome aboard Snowsnake! I've had my 240 a year now.. aboslutely love it and get lots of compliments. Mine has the 2 battery setup and it has sure been a nice peace of mind after being beached all day and running the radio, blender, etc. Waiting to get her into the dealer for a thermostat replacement :smt013 but other than that no issues. :smt001

Welcome aboard Snowsnake! The 240SD is a great boat. MS Judy's came with the 2 batteries. See the 240SD post about the upgrades I had done like shore power, grill, etc.

Thanks for the welcome!

As you can see I don't check my emails every day. Summers are to short in Wisconsin. Gotta enjoy everyday.

Anyone know if the 20 hour breakin rule before sking/tubing is a must or can you start after the first 10 hours when you can go WOT? :smt100

Chuck1: Like the gas grill. Where did you get it and how hard is it to install one? Your boat looks great.

I find the two battery thing interesting as well. My dealer had no 240s with a second battery. Had to work it into the deal.

... like to be able to spend the night at some deserted island like yesterday I got this magzine called Capt JAck and it had photos and info about a fort in the dry tortugas that was 60 miles from any marina and had no food or water there and dang how I want to go check that out now.

120 miles round trip to the Dry Tortugas? Now I need to do some math :smt009 I have a 75 gal tank that cruises at about 2 mpg? so this trip is about 120 miles that leaves 15 gallons to spare.

Sounds possible but may be pushing the safe limit. Is 2 MPG correct for a 240 DA?

Sounds crazy. . .but I have (more than once) dumped the contents of a few 5 gallon cans into my boat. Once to "dispose" of fuel at the end of the jetski season. The other was to add some margin when I was departing for a longish evening cruise (with less than a 1/2 tank) after my local fuel dock was closed.

My passengers called me crazy, but honestly I don't like to worry when out on the boat.

I'd suggest a realistic review of the First Aid kit to make sure that it's actually useful and not just for show; if necessary buy yourself a real one since you never know when you might be miles from nowhere and need help.

You can also add the following items to your list :

1) Certificate from Red Cross for basic first aid
2) Certificate from Red Cross for CPR
3) Certificate from Coast Guard for completing their 'Safe Boater' course - this is usually good for an insurance discount in my experience with owning 7 boats(!)
4) Dry bag for your handheld VHF (just because they say they're waterproof doesn't mean they really are!)
5) Dry bag for your cellphone (because it may be more effective than your VHF in calling for help under certain circumstances!)

Cheers,

Stuart

I need to double check that 60 miles for some reason I might be wrong it might be 30 miles not 60. I'll have to read the article again (if I can find it).
