We just bought a new Sea Ray 330 and I am anxious to entertain some friends on the boat.
Do you guys use melamine dishes or just paper plates?
Do you use your grill often?

Any suggestions for giving our guests a nice time out on the water would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Plastic glasses for wine and hard drinks, real brandy glasses brandy in plastic does not taste good, corning wear dishes, real coffee mugs. Washing them all becomes a social event at the end of dinner or after a big breakfast. No instant coffee. Beer from cans. Real sheets to sleep under. Good deck chairs or cushons. And a good heater in the boat for wet cold days. let your guest steer the boat at slow speed but not after drinking.

Wow, after all these years i found the twin mom used to talk about!

I do not think I could add a word or statement to make better suggestions and improve your outings.

Awesome:smt038 That is what I was looking for.
I already have some really nice "plastic" glasses but am trying to decide on some plates. The melamine ones are nice and they also have the nonskid strip on the bottom - just in case.

Thanks and keep the suggestions coming!

If you like to cook get good knifes. Never seen non slip dishes but if you have to use them people will not want to eat when the boat is rocking. Start small add what you need over time. No matter how big your boat you will run out of room to store things.

Stores like West carry heavy acrylic glasses that look just like glass, so they are durable. We also got a set of dishes from West that have rubber non-slip bottoms.

For knives I found a French manufacturer Opinel that makes folding knives in steak knife and cooking knife sizes. The lack of drawers makes safe storage of traditional knives a challenge and safety hazard. These can be folded like a jack knife and stored in a plastic container.

We also have a set of real silverware. Although, I bought the hundred year supply of plastic forks, knives and spoons from Costco and keep a couple bags on the boat. These work out well for preparation jobs. Ditto for paper plates, don't serve food on them, but they are good for holding raw food before cooking, cooked food from grill to table, etc.

I will also admit that if I am alone on the boat I will use the paper and plastic stuff rather than have to clean up.

In addition to the above, Correlle dishes, can coozies for the beer and pop, real steak knives, a small cutting board, and a small serving platter should get you started.

I've found a blender to be a useful tool too. :)

And here I thought this thread was going to be about the entertaining "tools" on CSR :) Sorry I
couldn't resist.

I was tempted to make a joke about the title too, but didn’t want to get scolded…

I have found most of our boating "ware" at Camping World for far less then "Worst Marine" or any other marine store. Camping World is an RV store with same items, they just don't say marine on them so they are 50% cheaper.......

I have a suggestion; this is what I am looking for;
Get a Radio with IPod port and a RF remote control (NOT infrared). I am told you will be able to control the tunes from anywhere on the boat and areas surrounding your boat to distances at about 100-feet.
Now that’s entertainment.

    • Ice Maker
    • RF remote for stereo
    • George Forman grill
    • depending on the stairs, I have seen others use under them to store booze
    • two piece fishing rods to always have on hand
    • goggles
    • bogie boards
    • hacky sack (showing my age)
    • sand toys for the “kids”
    • T-shirts with your boats name for guest tokens
    • Beer cozies (boat name would be cool)
    • Always have bottle opens handy
    • Blow up rafts big enough to lounge on

Great place for "logo ware"

Don't get the standard foam koozies, they have a tendancy to blow away. Look around for the heavier "vinyl" koozies. They have two sizes, one for bottles and one for cans.

Also, expect some spills.. I discourage red wine on the boat. If it is just me and my wife, I bend the rules. Foam drink holders keep drinks cold, but they also do a nice job of keeping cans from sliding around and scratching things.

Me too. Boordy's Red:thumbsup: Besides, it matches the hull

The Admiral has already put the law out on red wine! I did however suggest that when drinking red wine we use sipper cups with straws!

Kettle One and Soda will not leave a mark and may help clean the carpet!

The Admiral likes it as much as I so I don’t have that worry.

Besides I tell her “It’s my boat and I’ll do as I please” Believe that one???
