Has anyone ever had to trace down the source of power (the actual plug and receptacle) for the cabin t.v.? I finally bought my DTV box and the picture is very good. Now I just have to find the outlet to plug it in. I hid the box right under the t.v. so the remote can be used via the little opening under the t.v.. I don't want to have to cut holes and run a short extension cord to the microwave outlet. But this seems the easiest fix. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mine is behind the electrical panel at the top. I needed to remove the top panel. The panel is in sections. Remove yours and take a peak behind there.

Thanks guys, I'm on my way to the marina now. Just finished watching the WHO DAT'S put it on the Rams. Well not really put it on them, but, WE WON!!!

Alright guys, just got back from the marina and THE only outlet I found was the one behind the refrigerator. That's a start cause I may be able to snake an extension cord down there coming from under the t.v.. I ran the cord down a little hole that I saw between the counter bottom and base cabinet top fore of the sink. I just need to use some fish tape to guide it in the precise opening. It's Tricky to do, but I must say, DAMN THESE BOATS ARE BUILT SOLID!!!

Roger that. I've found it a lot easier to take out 20 - 30 screws to run wire than snaking it, but that was in the cockpit to starboard.

Oh, sorry. I did not realize your TV was in the galley cabinets. I was picturing the spot forward of the helm. Where did the old power cord lead? It's got to be closer than the fridge.

I still never found where the original power cord went:smt013. So I think I'm going to do what I said earlier and snake an extension cord to the fridge outlet. I guess I'll be doing a lot of bending, stretching, and getting banged up to get er done, but I like a clean install.:thumbsup:

pays to know what breaker to throw too.dead battery

I wouldn't be draping 120V power cords around behind appliances/walls/sofas/etc. There are guidelines (NMEA/ABYC) on how this stuff has to be tied down. You should have an outlet right by the TV that you can plug into and tie wrap up the lose cording.

the TV is pretty much in the same spot on my boat as yours and the outlet was behind the TV. Accessible by removing the TV. If you go with that outlet, have an adaptor ready as mine had the Glomex system pluged into the other recepticle.

So you have an AC Glomex? I thought that we had figured out that they were DC powered. Mine works on the hook without the genny (I have a DC powered Jensen HDTV).

You have a separate breaker for the TV, don't you? You wouldn't want the breaker for the TV/video and Fridge be the same. It's got to be in there as Scott says. Sea Ray does a good job with the wiring and hiding it too. I'd dig a little deeper. You may need that outlet and circuit for other AV acccessories later.

No genny, no TV in my boat ...AC

Don't know if the 330 and 340 are the same, however mine is right behind the TV. I had to put an adapter to plug the TV and Converter Box in one outlet and the AC/DC power source to the flying saucer in the other.

the glomex plug is a transformer. Looks like a cell phone charger but bigger???

Copy that! That makes sense. I've read where others have written about the same thing, but everything I've researched shows 12V DC. A transformer makes sense. But in a boat, I wonder why they're not just hard wired DC? Mine is, otherwise it wouldn't work without AC power on the boat.

EDIT: Under Glomex accessories, they're not showing a transformer. My guess is that they used to run at least some of them with a transformer, but now they appear to be direct DC. I could still be wrong, though. http://www.cyber-bridge-marine.com/Glomex-Tv-Accessories.html

KK,

On my '05 340, the AC plug for the TV is on the bulkhead behind the TV. Slide the TV all the way out and look in there with a flashlight - you should see it. I plugged my digital converter in that plug.

When I pull the tv out and look in all I see is the spiral loom that all the wires are in (rca, rg6, and power cable) going to the back of the cabinet. From there it goes into another spiral loom that goes fore and aft, picture a T. I believe it's going aft. Anyway I hear yall on the taking of the cabinet apart but THERE ARE NO SCREWS TO DO THIS:smt013. In my cabinet there is some type of "rubberey" material that is covering the top back coming down on a 45 degree angle going down to the very back of the cabinet. Picture a back window in a car and this is what it looks like. I looked in the hole that the DVD player is in and all i can see is some more rca wires. The dvd plaver is held in place by black electrical tape wrapped around it and the shelf it sits on. Is that standard from SR?

I've tried to reach under there with my hand but I keep seeing the power wire for the tv in the flex loom going to that junction of more flex loom.

Now I'm wondering if this is the factory setup or maybe the P.O. did some mods to it.

I will take some pics this evening and post to this thread tonight.

Guys I'm really handy and normally CAN figure this kind of $hit out, but I'm really baffled by this one and really feeling idiotic:huh:.

I mean hell, I was able to hardwire 2 seperate ipod jacks, one at the helm and one in the electrical panel near the stereo. Maybe I'm having a senior moment.

Anyway a BIG THANKS to everyone for their input. Later guys.
