350mag B3,
I'm debating on whether or not to go this year but the main deciding factor is where to stay and how to get around if not staying close to the show. I went 2 yrs ago and stayed at Beach Place Towers, just a hop skip and a jump to the show. This year I waited too late and they appear to be booked, that's OK, I didn't really want to spend $400+ a night this year anyhow.

Where is a decent place to stay that's not a men's only gay resort? Is there even parking nearby the show or will I need to taxi around? Lots of other big events I have been to have a shuttle system running around town, do they do this in Lauderdale? Driving around clueless in a crewcab F250 is no fun in all that traffic...

Anyone here planning to go?

A friend of mine is going (unfortunatly taking family to Disney that week...)and he said they just reduced the room rates at Pier 66 to just over $200 a night, and you can't get to much closer to the show then here....

The early buzz is that this show traffic will be even lighter than last year. I think if you look around you'll see plenty of hotels in the $100-200 range as bookings have eased. The deal at Bahia Mar mentioned above is terrific if you can park your truck there. They may nick you for a heavy parking fee if they even have any as all their lots are full of tents.

There are remote lots and you can shuttle into the show. There is also the water taxi for $10 from the Las Olas riverfront which is a great way to get to the show, see some sights and be on the water. I've got a crew cab too and it is a hassle around the beach at show time. You will have a very hard time finding a place to park it near the show.

My first choice would be to park the truck remotely and stay at Bahia Mar if you can get the rate. Second choice would be to stay north towards DelRay and shuttle in.

We usually hit the show on Sat for the entire day, use the shuttle service from the War Memorial and either drive back to Orlando Sat night or stay near WPB area. Even though the show last year said attendance was down, there were still a butt load of people there.

Last time I was in town (this summer) I got a great deal on Priceline at the Hilton on the Harbor - rooms were ok and they had a great bar and restaurant on site - it's a bit out of the way ($10 Cab ride to Las Olas) but you will save a lot of $$$$

post pictures if you see anything good at the show!

We have gone to the show for the past 6-7 years and spend 4 days there. We especially enjoy seeing the show being taken apart. We rent a car and get a hotel that is north of Ft Lauderdale on Cypress Creek. Hotel was 50% of that of last year and the car for a week is less than $100

Thanks everyone for the info but, it looks like we're not making it this year. As I was on the phone making reservations, a light bulb went off as the girl on the other end confirmed dates. Oct 31st. WTF, Oct 31st!! Why schedule the nations largest boat show the weekend of Oct 31st? I wonder how many will not be coming to the show because they have kids to dress up and take around to stock up on candy till next year? Wife and kids are not up to trying to find a place to trick or treat in Ft Lauderdale. Oh well, maybe next year...

Surprise the boat show is always the same weekend in October so you can figure that atleast 50% of the time it will conflict with Halloween. As I recall it is usually the same weekend as Fantasy Fest in Key West, an event unlike anything else.

Will smaller da be there, like 280,290, 310?

Yes, they will have a wide selection in the water. Sea Ray will have most of an entire dock or they did last year.

I've been gone for 4 days and just drove by the show. The big iron is in, parking is jammed and the traffic even slower on the beach. It's show time.
