I have a 1985 30ft Sea Ray Weekender and recently have been having trouble while docked with shore power. My voltage meter inside the boat reads that my boat is receiving shore power and I checked with a voltage meter to confirm that the shore power line is working - but nothing is powering on inside the boat and my batteries are being drained from my refrigerator, which I have turned off, and also my bilge. I just purchased a new deep cycle battery for my refrigerator and all electronics since my previous was one from 2005. While the boat is running, the voltage meter is showing the batteries are charging - but again at the dock, no shore power is going to the boat and the batteries are not being charged. Any ideas or suggestions?

Let me get this straight, you have the boat plugged into a known working shore power source and you have AC voltage showing on the guage on the AC panel (when I assume you have the main AC breaker turned on) in the boat but you have no AC power to any of the accessories?

yes , the power is working on the shore line but nothing charging the boat , so when i plug in and leave over night the boat is running only on the battery's

I do not mean to be a wise guy, but do you have a battery charger?
Is it plugged/wired in?
Is the fuse OK?
Check the output from the charger, is it outputing 14VDC?

All I can think of at the moment.
Let me know what you find,

Paul

If I understand what you are saying, you are not getting 120volts throughout the boat. You need to make sure the main breaker in the boat is on. When you turn the fridge, water heater or charger on, you should see the amp gauge on the 120 volt panel, not your dashboard, jump around showing that something is pulling some amperage. If you don't see that and the main is on, you need to start tearing into the circuit breaker panel and make sure your main is good. If you aren't comfortable doing this, hire a licensed electrician.

Sounds like the switch from "Shore Power" to "Batteries" is still in the battery position.
