I was going to post this in the 280DA thread but thought others might find it useful as well.

I didn't have a place to store my grill so I decided to make use of the extra space in the engine bay. I have a single 496 so there is a ton of extra room down below.

Nice Job.
I have the round Magma party grill...and would like to do the same. I too have a single with tons of room.
Gotta figure out a way to make a round one....

Hmmmm. Interesting. I have a round grill and have always stored it under the forward/center v-berth cushion. But I'm sure you guys know what a pain it is to get at things under that big cushion... sit to the side, lift up the cushion, lean in so you can rest the cushion on your head while at the same time resting the table on your shoulder... anyone know what I'm talking about?

Thanks for the idea! I think my round grill will stored in the bilge very soon.

Great minds do think (somewhat) alike. I just put the last coat of finish on this last night.

I have a through hull for engine cooling, and no power hatch lift, so this is going under the cockpit wet bar sinks.

Looking good. I just store mine in a the Magma canvas bag. (Grin)

Tonka, it looks like you already have the box mounted a bit higher. But, for anyone else doing this, just an FYI: Raise the box slightly off the mounting surface so there is air circulation underneath. You can do this with something as simple as a stack of SS washers, or even an SS nut. 1/4" is plenty.

Great idea, again, Tonka!

Henry - nice joints!

I just bought a second mount for the grill, attached it to the generator platform in the bilge. Grill stores neatly down there with no "box".

I have mounted my grill next to the water tank in the engine bay.
The pedestal disconnects from the Grill and the base. I'll stow the pedastal and the propane can in the transom locker and I made a plywood base

for the grill to mount sit in. It's mounted to the platform the water tank is on.
The lower Black cup that's on the grill will go into the hole in the plywood.
Here's the grill stowed in the bilge.

These were install pics. I removed it and painted, then reinstalled it now.

Good point about the circulation. You are correct, mine is raised up for both circulation and for ease of storage and retrieval. Been using it all weekend and it's working out great.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I'm jealous of all that space!!

Keep in mind that there are risks to mounting stuff in the engine room. Circulation was already pointed out. But also, if things are lnot secured properly, you can get all sorts of problems from moving debris.

A guy at my marina had a grill in his engine room, and hit a wave. Some of the fake charcoal came out and lodged his bilge pump closed. He only noticed it after taking on a lot of water and after his high water alarm went off. They managed to correct everything, but it was a little too close of a call.
