260 Sundancer Thread.........Comments questions and answers

If you haven't already done so, try re-seating both connections as well. In other words, pull off the connectors and push them back on both at the engine and at the dashboard.

I'll try that Dave. I wasn't watching when he looked at the connection at the engine. Where exactly is it located and how do I identify it?
Thanks
Bill

All systems GO!
Thanks Dave. I disconnected all guages and master line to the electronic module under the dash.......then re-connected and all is well. Everything is working fine.

Too hot!

We spent our first night on the boat last weekend. We had the heat on and found that the vent in the midberth blew so hard that it became a real irritant. Is there a way to shut that vent off, or do I need to rig some sort of deflector/cover?

Two suggestions: (1) you can adjust the fan speed on the blower. The default for low is still pretty strong, but you can go into "program mode" and change that as well. I did it on mine and it works nicely. They recommended not setting it too low b/c it may cause the AC to freeze when cooling, but I haven't had any problems (nor did I set it to the lowest).

(2) Install same size, adjustable vent covers. Same brand and color, but they can be closed or adjusted.

I did both on my 260.

Had the same problem. Here's a few points.

1. The fan by default is set to run continuously. You can program the unit to turn the fan off when the compressor goes off. One drawback though. They placed the thermostat sensor in behind the mid berth grill. So without the airflow from the fan you will not get accurate temperature readings. You could relocate the thermostat though

2. You can program the speed of the fan and set the low limit down lower. This is what I did.

Here is the link to the PDF manuals. http://www.cruisair.com/smx2.html

New Problem: My depth guage goes from say 187 ft. to 4.6 ft, then the alarm goes off...when I am in deep water. It happens whether I am going fast or slow. Very annoying.

I had to have my diver inspect my hull last week, and asked him to check if there is algae or something blocking the sensor. He said nothing was there, all was clear. I am guessing this is electronic related.

Tips for dealing with this? Not sure if I should just reset the SmartCraft system or not.

Rituals & Checklists

Great forum everyone - thanks for sharing your experiences!

I'm a Newbie 260 owner (April '09) and learning more every day about this fantastic vessel. As many of us are creatures of habit, I'm curious about your checklists. I've read the manuals - but in developing my own - I'd love to hear about your real-world 'pre & post-flights' and 'rituals'.

Thanx!

Welcome SC5
The checklist will depend on whether you are trailering moored and what and where you are boating.

One thing you'll find out here quickly is the more info you give the more you'll get.

Since the Sport boat folks have threads started on the 220 and 240 Sundecks, I thought I would start one on the 260 Dancers. Mine is only three weeks old and I just love it. It would be nice to hear from other 260DA owners too. How do you like yours?

Like our 260! Not big on the butane stove. It continues to leak. Has anyone replaced the butane with a ceramic glass cook top? Something we are considering.

I appologize if this has been asked before, but what is the arch height with the 260 on trailer?
Your trailer and the model year of the 260 will impact your height as well. On my triaxle with 14" wheels and an '06 260, to the top of the GPS antennas on the arch is 13' 2". Your's may vary.

On my tandem axle Eagle trailer with 16" wheels I sit 13'9". I have an 05 with arch and accessories on top

So how high of the road is the keel at the centerline of the arch?
