In the case of the B/W transmissions I think we are stuck with the rotation. I am told that the Hurth and ZF units will go either way simply by flipping the transmission which make much more sense than screwing around with the internals of an engine to run it backwards. I think it's basically a cam shaft change.

He has a warehouse full of engines, outdrives, etc.

Many of the engines are from the late 90's right up until the last couple of years. Many of these engines are new but have been sitting in this warehouse. You may find a great deal from him.
