The wood on one of the two inserts decided to go their own way last time I took the boat out. I have a 1988 34 Sundancer.. are the wooden inserts a standard thing that I can order from somewhere... Please help me find a replacement!!!!!

Thanks
Billy G

Nope......Sea Ray had their own wood shop in the 80's.

I wouldn't mess with remaking one or trying to match a new one to a 20 year old one. Just get 2 new ones made out of 3/4" Starboard and you are done messing with them forever.

Wait...........I just saw your location. Go see Steve Mattke @ Mattke Brothers Yacht Services, 601A Commerce Drive (just off Thomas Drive behind Mad Hatter) 850-233-3758........that is about a 10 minute job for Steve.

I doubt they are standard, even 10 years ago! You'll have to have them manufactured or you could go with one of the plastic companies that has replacements. The plastic does not look real to me, but you don't ever have to varnish again. Your call. You could have some made up out of fiberglass that would fit using a different set of holes. Expensive, but you could put your initials or the boats name in them.

The screws that hole them on must have fallen out? They are on the bottom of the platform screwed in from underneath.

I wouldn't even waste a dime on that useless excuse for a swim platform. Put on an extended one from Swim Platforms, Inc. www.swimplatforms.com Here is our '89 340.

NorCal... thanks so much for the great info. Your swim platform looks great... we just may have to go with that!

Sundancer... the we got the boat last year and the teak was very weathered. The screws just pulled from the wood... 6 screws were still in the fiberglass!!! Thanks for the great info.

This is an awesome site... can't wait until spring to start using the boat and this site more! Cheers all.

plasteak makes inserts for your swimplatform, you can go to there website they have them posted there. i have used them on my searay and they look great..... any questions please let me know....

We are wimpy.... if the water is under 80 degrees here, it is unfit for swimming!!! lol... It does get fairly cold here in North Florida, at least by Florida standards.... highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's.. typical day for some places, but our blood gets thin there... otherwise we would never survive the 100 plus degree and 90% humidity days we have for seven months a year!!

rob...
thanks for that website... that will do the trick nicely for now. The larger platform does look nice, but with tax time coming, I better hang on to that cash for now. Appreciate the help.

He doesn't have to wait till spring............my boat is a bout 2 miles from his and I've been boating all winter. In fact, I'd be out today rather then reading CSR if my boat weren't hauled out for a bottom job this week.

Whole truth be told... I have been going to the boat all winter... however, my wife will not go until she can get a tan.... fortunately, i do have a very nice dog house to sleep in, as I am doing it frequently during the colder months... lol

We start water skiing when the water temps hit 60 degrees! We rarely get over 70 degree water around here! I can't imagine water temps that high. I think we'd be out all year if we lived in Florida!

We're out all year here in California but after having 2 knees replaced my water ski days are over. :smt009

You could possibly make you own. After a teak flooring job in the house, I had a bunch of 3" x 3/4" teak boards and used them to replace some 80s features of the boat. The anchor locker door (which was black laquer) is gone, as are the fabric covered swirley teal-colored rails on the shelving.

I talked to the swimplatforms people - they wanted $5k to make me a new platform that would only be 144" wide when my beam is actually 14'11". I'm just going to have a local mill ship replace the teak inserts with some starboard and be done with it.
