It's Official.....Brunswick is Junk

Yeah, Boat show time will be interesting too. At least they don't have models like the car shows, because they'd be hiring the ugly ones.

See the new '09 Brunzwhalseabayridian Booth We've merged all of our brands, departments and development to better serve you....

....all built in our facility in MEXICO!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
Brunswick goes belly-up, sells off SR.
New buyer structures buyout so it does not assume any liability for Brunswick's warranties.`

Possible? If so, who's going to spend a few hundred thou on a boat who's manuf may go out of business and leave them without a warranty?

It could! Look at what happened to Evinrude!!!

Getting back to the title "Brunswick is junk"... Lets all remember that 6 months ago no one was crying about the hundreds of companies that are now "junk".

Its the over valued stock that is junk. Im certianly not defending Brunswick. Hell, I'm so new to boating I didn't even know that they owned Sea Ray until about a year ago!

However.........Point being that this entire crisis was easy enough to see comming. I moved investment money far away from the financial sector 2 years ago. This "crisis" will flush out trouble makers (the real junk companies) as well as BS accounting procedures, making things much more transparent. Then companies, and individuals for that matter, that are worthy, will be better off.

take it all in stride. my company has been in junk status since the telecom crash. many in that market went into private ownership until they could get back to being a public company. this too my happen with Brunswick or some of the business under brunswick.

we live in if nothing else interesting times.

I heard he won the tiara in an early 80's *Deleted* beauty contest...not that there's anything wrong with that...sorta like the beauty contest he's in right now.....with a much bigger prize at stake.:smt021

Don't go racial.

We either won't be allowed to have boats in Obamerica or will have to share them with people who don't have boats.

Now listen you people (my best Rush impression), This is very astute. Right now, there are thousands upon thousands of libs out there that resent the fact that we own boats. They refer to us as drunks, who take delight in destroying the enviroment with our oily exhaust and empty beer cans. (read some of the comments with news stories involving boats on the news sites.)

Really? All liberals (ie Democrats) think this way? Even the ones who own boats and enjoy the boating lifestyle? Really?

Thunderbird1, do you really believe that definition fits the liberal movement in America?

keokie: Nah, but I don't think liberal in America equals anti-boating, or that liberals are mostly crazy environmentalists either. Interesting, isn't it, that the traditional definition of liberal includes supporting a free market? Speaking of free market, you don't think Sea Ray will do away with the free hats, do you? That will REALLY get me fired up.

I believe liberalism as well as "Bubba" or other attitudes when it comes to logic can be associated with this comment and tunnel vision.

Purposeful ignorance and mental laziness, the world's two most deadly maladies, at least stupid people have a defense which the others cannot say they have.

People are just lazy anymore, especially mentally, unless they are playing some video game. The mantra is it is all about me, and "I am owed."

On MSNBC late last night they were discussing one of the democratic proposals under consideration for a national ad valorem tax (an annual national personal property/real estate/asset tax). There would be exemptions for 401k accounts of value of less than 100K and houses less than a certain value, but it would tax everything else annually that people own above the "average joe"...

How's that gonna work for the people that saved and bought a boat? Or saved for their retirement? Or saved and paid cash for stuff? Geez... Should finance that expensive house so you can be bailed out because if you saved for it, you're going to be taxed out...

Well that would be me. The last thing I financed was 20 years ago. How would they value assets like cars and boats? and if it sold for less, would you get a credit?

I can't even understand how someone thinks up something like that. Wouldn't that be a triple tax?
