410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

which model did you decide on?

I went with the 9000 - single compressor. I was about to pull the trigger on the dual compressor when I thought the single went out of stock. Turns out I got the last one from Sure Marine. The dual compressor is crazy money - you gotta really, really like ice cream for that thing! :):)

Amen...

Hey Everyone,

Been stalking this thread for a good bit. Appreciate everyone who has been contributing! Wound up closing on a 2000 410 w/ 3116s this past Friday. Coming from a 290 previously, this is a lot of boat to get used to lol. Still figuring a few things out. Can anyone clue me in as to what the Elect switch is for at the helm?

Thanks!

I assume that's your "electronics" switch. Does your autopilot and/or tridata come to life when you switch that on?

made the same jump (98 290 --> 2002 410). You're going to love it

on our boat the Autopilot brings power to the AP, tridata, and I wired in our n2k/seatalk bus to the same switch

Epic. I didn't even see the autopilot switch right next to it. I think I need a nap....

i also need a reading comprehension exam because I didn't even catch the 'elect' question. I believe my original plotter was switched with that but I wired them into the distribution block below the helm so it's now unused

Stee6043,

I watched the boat life fridge video, if your 97 is same as my 98, you're going to find that those cabin door trim pieces are attached with screws, not christmas trees like in the video. Wish I would have seen the video before I did mine, would have tried replacing the screws with christmas trees.

Gotcha, that all makes sense. I have a newer (not original) Garmin gpsmap 840? It powers up without that switch on so maybe the same was done

Yeah the video is a 410. I’m still assuming there are a few differences. Expecting the worst :)

Both Strecker and I came from 290's as well, must be a trend!

On my boat I have the autopilot and the second switch turns on the depth sounder.

Congrats on your purchase!

OK everyone its time to pick your brains on some items on my radar arch. The 360 deg light has a poor quality mount, and I only install it when I am anchored so I want to install a permanent solution. I was wondering what I could remove from my arch and replace with a light to avoid adding more holes? The TV antenna is no longer being used, but its just not over enough to miss the open array.

My boat originally came with a Loran C (removed by me). Currently it has the original autopilot and Raymarine C120 chart plotter that also runs the radar. There appears to be two GPS style antenna's I am thinking the short one on the top is for the C120, wondering what the one on the port side with the fold down mount is used for?

Cheers,

Your anchor light needs to be mounted on the centerline of the boat to be proper. If you scroll back in this thread you’ll see a bit of discussion on this not too long ago. There are not many cheap/easy fixes we’ve found.

Both of those mini domes look like GPS. One or both could have been stranded by prior owner upgrades. Only one way to find out! :)

Looks like a Sirius antenna; the one on the right side.

Managed to get the PO on the phone, glad to see that even in his 80's he is sharp as a tack and remembers everything! So the mushroom on the starboard side was added for Sirius XM weather but not installed because the service wasn't available in Canada. So that one is not being used and clears the wide array

It was mentioned by Stee6043 that the light needs to be centred for it to be proper and he's correct. Vessels over 12m must have a masthead light on while underway at night, 225' radius forward beam that lines up with the centreline of the vessel. Anchor light doesn't matter about the centreline, just has to have a 360' light beam unobstructed.

I will have to look at the discussion earlier that I missed, tough to extend a light rearward 2 1/2 feet just supported at the end of the tube.

Speaking of masthead lights, I did a quick upgrade a couple weeks back. I was a bit annoyed by how yellowed my lenses had become. After some quick google research I found a new Perko fixture with the same lenses as our lights.

I bought this guy and replaced the lenses and cap on my light with these. Kinda silly to spend $50 on a few pieces of plastic but it definitely looks nice, less 90's, no more yellowing lenses :)

You can buy the lenses by themselves
