Audio Bass feels directional - add a 2nd sub woofer?

If I were to do a second sub it would be on the port side aft of the refrigerator and sink, where the step up is. That seems to be in line with the existing subwoofer but on the opposite side.

At this point I think I'm going to upgrade the amp with the existing wires. With a plan to rewire it at some point in the future. And not try to crank it up to the point where it continues to flip the breaker in the meantime.

The challenge now is which amp? I didn't realize that kicker amp wouldn't be enough power.

I was going to add a set of midrange speakers in that location and its mate across from it to add some sound in the back lounge area. Currently, sound is too concentrated "up front".

What's frustrating me now is it sounds like I upgraded to the wrong sub
You DID NOT go with the wrong woofer, for the amp you had/have. Your only option was a 4 ohm woofer. My original 5 chnl suggestion was to upgrade the existing woofer and cabin/woofer amp. So if the amp AND woofer were getting upgraded at the same time, the KXMA9005 and the KMF 2 ohm, would be my choice.

Now, with the gives specs of the existing Clarion amp, we can draw a better picture. The existing amp is rated at 130W with 2 chnls wired to one, with a 4 ohm woofer. The 9005 is rated at 200W to a 4 ohm woofer. so A, its more wattage, and B), its not not loaded to it minimum impedance. So you will see amp improvement in woofer performance from both a wattage and tuning standpoint. This also gives you the option to add a 2nd 4 ohm woofer and each woofer would still net 200W rms.

For the four speakers. With a pair wired in parallel on 2 chnl on the current amp, they are getting up to 45W rms each. With the KXMA9005, each of the four speakers would have its own chnl, rated to 75W rms. So again, the amp is under less load, AND there is an increase in their net wattage.

The old clarion is also class-AB. So its current draw is likely the same as what a higher output, but more efficient amp would be.
