If I were to do a second sub it would be on the port side aft of the refrigerator and sink, where the step up is. That seems to be in line with the existing subwoofer but on the opposite side.

At this point I think I'm going to upgrade the amp with the existing wires. With a plan to rewire it at some point in the future. And not try to crank it up to the point where it continues to flip the breaker in the meantime.
The challenge now is which amp? I didn't realize that kicker amp wouldn't be enough power.

You DID NOT go with the wrong woofer, for the amp you had/have. Your only option was a 4 ohm woofer. My original 5 chnl suggestion was to upgrade the existing woofer and cabin/woofer amp. So if the amp AND woofer were getting upgraded at the same time, the KXMA9005 and the KMF 2 ohm, would be my choice. What's frustrating me now is it sounds like I upgraded to the wrong sub
