I’m interested is adding a second battery to the appliance bank. How do I do this?

Connect it in parralel with the battery you use as your existing house bank. If you have a 3-bank charger, connect the 3rd lead to the new battery.

It would really be best to start with two new, DC batteries rather than just adding a new one. Unless the existing is very close to new, the existing one will end up shortening the life of the new one.

When adding batteries to an existing bank, keep in mind that the resulting performance of the bank will only be as good as the weakest battery(s). This is why you should always start out with fresh batteries to obtain maximum performance. In other words, never add a new battery or batteries to an already weaker bank and expect greater performance than the original bank.

Thanks. Both batteries that I put in today are new. I have heard that some people have one battery just for starting and two for cabin and appliances.

Is there a diagram somewhere that I can see on how to connect it parallel to the existing batteries?

Parallel is simply + to + & - to -. It would probably be a good idea to do some reading on parallel circuitry, but that's about all there is to it. Wiring in paralle, as opposed to in series, creates one "larger" 12V battery. Use battery cables at least the size you currently have.

Re-read what has been said about using an existing battery.
