Please see the below pics; what's the best LED replacement for this engine compartment bulb?

I think it’s a 1156 too but make sure you buy the one with the side pins on the base level, not offset. Yours are at the same level. There is another version where they are offset.

if the new bulbs you buy are polarized they will not work if they are installed backwards. Just turn them 180 degrees in the socket and they should work.

You need an 1156 style bulb. Probably for the engine room you want a bright white or sunlight “color”.

I got mine at a local Autozone. There were two levels and I ended up for for the most expensive. The bilge is definitely brighter,

FYI, you can't simply turn an 1156 bulb around to reverse the polarity, since it only has one contact on the bottom.
I may have been lucky but I changed all 4 of mine with no issues other than a bite to my wallet.
I’m not sure the exact number but this is close - just match it up when you get there.

$17 for 20, good reviews, seems to good to be true right?

"BA15S" is the universal identifier for that style of bulb. "15" is base diameter in millimeters, "S" is Single contact. 1156 is the "normal" automotive number for the base style.

Oh yeah. You are correct sir!. I recall now that I had to rewire a couple of my sockets by swapping the power wires to make my bulbs work. More than just flipping the bulb around. Its been about 8 years so memory fades.

Yes and unfortunately all my light fixtures in the engine compartment were wired in reverse. Eventually I will get around to changing the polarity.
