Should I get a taser, stun gun or pepper spray?

My daughter is going to college next year and asked me to get a taser.

I do not know anything about either.

Can you recommend which model I should buy.

Thank you.
 
What school, if I may ask? Some places may restrict what you can have in dorms, etc.
 
Taser and pepper spray….. pepper spray is easy to get on eBay and cheap enough to get a few
 
When my daughter started college, she took a self defense class and started carrying pepper spray. She went to a small private college here in NC. Never personally had an issue, but even on that small campus things happened. She said the class really was good and gave here the confidence to know what to do if ever in a bad situation. I would find out if having a taser on the campus is even allowed, could end up being more trouble that it is worth.
 
+1 pepper spray check out a quality product like POM
 
A benefit of pepper spray is the easy/quick access she would have to it. Pepper spray is common place and can be openly carried on her keychain or in her hand and no one would give it a second thought. Walking around with a taser... not so much.

Except the punishment could very well be permanent expulsion from the university, and once that happens, she is not getting into any other university -- at least not a good one.

I wouldn't go ASKING if it was allowed, but I would find out so you and your daughter would know how to handle it - make sure no one finds out you have it for example.
 
My wife carries both, they're both small enough to fit in the palm of her hand.
The taser is more expensive than what you can find on Amazon, but they have a lifetime warranty. We warranted her first one a couple of years ago, and it was quick and easy. The company is Damsel in Defense. They have all sorts of stuff designed for women's defense.
 
Here in MD, my wife carries both. But in state NY, both are illegal.

I would tend to go with pepper spray because, as mentioned, it can be deployed at a distance. Where as a taser needs to be close contact.

Also +1 on POM.

If I was being raped and pulled out a stun gun and got expelled…… Fox News would have a field day with that one

is a knife allowed?.. so if I cut off his dick that would be okay ?……. Defend yourself anyway you feel comfortable if a school doesn’t like it so be it.
 
I'm Sure our LEO friends on here will have the best advise.
However all my cop friends say no on the taser as they dont always put someone down if you don't know what your doing and in some cases just makes that person more violent and if they take it from you they will just use it on you and there take on it is if your willing to fire a taser you might as well just get your conceal carry and fire a gun.

I would go with bear spray :) over pepper spray.

I would 100% have her take a self defence class.

Not really. It’s different theses days. They encourage kids to rat on each other. If her roommate sees it she may rat her out.

+1 on the knife. A nice EDC every day carry knife can be concealed easily while still being able to wear the girly clothes. Check out Benchmade for a nice quality knife.
My daughter is only nine however, we are starting her with situational awareness training. "Daddy, why do you look so angry when we walk out of a store" is when it started. I tell her I see the world the way that it is not the way I want it to be.
The commodore is under orders to not leave the house without her pistola as well.

All I am saying is he and his daughter should know what the rules are for having the taser and then make their own decision. I don't really have an opinion about it, carry the taser, pepper spray, whatever you want, just be prepared for the consequences if you are breaking a campus rule.
