So far, we have just watched “lake effect” snow from a distance….15 miles south of us, is a different story.

Yeah, that fetch off Lake Ontario is a bear. Our lake effect stops in January when Lake Erie freezes over. Lake Ontario just keeps on giving, it doesn’t freeze.

Shot from Buffalo looking toward the south towns. It is literally a wall of snow.

16 inches in Cheboygan, MI yesterday (Friday). Another foot overnight and steady snow since daylight today with probably another 6 inches...so far. Total to this point has to be close to 30 inches since Friday morning. Photo is Friday morning at the 16" status.View attachment 136843
That's good. Northern Michigan needs a big snow year. One to help the snowmobile sport and two, fill up the lakes. Started to get kinda skinny in Anchor Bay this fall.

Glad there were no "4 footers" the day we pulled in. Love Lake Michigan's east shore.
Lots of great ports to visit up and down the west coast. Leland and Harbor Springs are two of our favorites.

My father stays on Duncan Bay and said he was getting it pretty good last weekend. He likes to tell me I have it easy down in S.E. Michigan. I remind him, I previously lived in Marquette on the shore of Lk Superior and have had more than my fair share of snow and cold.
I have to say, I do love the Cheyboygan area, need to get up there and visit with my father.

Yeah, I enjoy the lack of a crowd. I boat/fish on both Huron and Mullet Lake and rarely have more than a half dozen boats within eyeshot. It's a big improvement over my many years' experience on Lake St Clair and the launches there.

Same temp in Toronto today. About 55. Cleaned the outside windows. Then cut the grass for the last time and swapped spots for the mower and the snowblower. Yuck.
Put up some Christmas lights and cleaned up the last of the fallen leaves. Nice day to be outside.

Lows 60s here. Tennis in the morning, then got up the rest of the leaves and put the winter lawn fertilizer down. What's a snow blower?...

Supposed to rain all day Sunday.

We spent Thanksgiving weekend in Seattle with kids and grands and had planned on coming home today (Sunday). Weather forecast for I-90 through the Cascade Mtns had a 100% chance of precip with snow levels of 8"-12".

That was enough to get us to change travel plans and we came home yesterday with dry roads.

Today I took the lawn tractor to a friend's house (a block away) and we picked up 11 bags of leaves off his lawn.

Then I came home and did mine and had to empty the 3 grass catcher bags 6 times to get all my leaves off my lawn and the two lawns behind us and next to us. I figure it's my will tree the leaves dropped from so, being the nice guy I am, I picked them up.

I'll have at least one more trip through my yard to pick up willow leaves, then put the tractor away and get out the snowblower.
