58 Sedan Bridge Official Thread

Tom,
Love your chairs! Is that an autopilot remote I see on the right arm extension of the captain's chair?
That is a Garmin Grid 20. It controls all things Garmin; autopilot, radar, sonar, MFD's, AIS, including the Fusion audio. Anything you can do on the MFD's can be done on the remote.
I've gotta say that it's pretty sweet to sit back and steer the boat with two fingers on that remote.
Ah Mitch @techmitch - I forgot all about that thread.

That is awesome! Love the convenience and functionality.

It doesn't get much better than this. Very cool!

Have similar remote and was trying to figure out how to mount to armrest and have it be removable. Not much space on the armrest to devote to a permanent mount on our helm seats. I guess I need to upgrade the stidd to accommodate the remote:)

Definitely tight space and it takes some getting use to in this armrest spot but works well for me. Credit to my daughter for inspiring me to cut the GRID into the arm rest.

ANCHOR DAVIT -- BENT?

I've asked Southcoast Marine but haven't gotten an answer yet... and I reckon owners here can probably tell me quickly enough anyway.

I think the cheeks have been squashed together, deforming the roller (which doesn't really do a lot of rolling), and I think the bail that goes over the top of the anchor has been deformed. Yes?

Looks like you are correct in that both are bent. Take the anchor chute off and take it to a good machine shop. I'll bet they can straighten it to near perfect condition.

Yes looks bent to me. My roller turns relatively easily.

Hey Everyone! Finally closed on our 580 and picking it up next Wednesday to take it around from lighthouse point to Tampa (if weather holds). Any way, for those of you who have wondered about Starlink please note I tested it on our 44 SB (before Ian took her away) and have now permanently mounted her on the 580 inside the TV6 KVH dome. Works amazing! It can fully pivot, tilt and rotate inside the TV6 dome. This set up purchased of course before Starlink announced the $2500 flat mount for “RVs” just a few weeks ago. But it works beautifully this way and thought maybe people might like to see. Happy to share how it all mounted so let me know if you have any questions. Looks like images are loading sideways so i apologize for that. Thanks!

Very nice! Can you send some pictures of how you mounted it inside?

We don't use satellite TV so this would work great.

Kinda weird... We dismounted the anchor yesterday, to prep for winter work... and discovered the davit cheeks are NOT bent toward each other. The overhead bail is indeed bent out of its original shape and will need to be fixed, but the davit itself is OK, and both rollers do actually roll.

Must be some kind of bogus visual distortion caused by the angle of those pictures...

That was my point too is we dont use the satellite and just stream. Ill add two links. The first eBay link is the one i went with because the seaview mount was back ordered for two weeks. Is as able to negotiate the Max Marine to $400 as an FYI.

Seaview makes a couple different types of mounts that you dont need the KVH dome but i wanted to have it enclosed if possible.

We still have some regular service or boat yard customers who had slips in Panama City/or PCB that are still over in Alabama at Ono Island and Orange Beach after being misplaced when Hurricane Michael hit NW Fla.

Only one of the 4 Marinas in Panama City that were destroyed by Michael in October of 2018 have rebuilt to the point where they can accept new wet slip customers…..and everyone thought the marinas would be open again in 12-18 months. Rebuilding a marina isn't a fast process when you consider the governmental impact of Florida DEP, Florida will not permit any more fuel or waste pumping stations located over the water and construction codes for over water construction are terribly restrictive in Fla now.

I've had a couple of brokers tell me the nearest Gulf Coast slips are in Destin, so @bhagan - you are lucky!!
I agree and feel very lucky to have snagged one. Now of course there is a hurricane threat to the east coast right after we closed on the 580 sitting in lighthouse point. fingers crossed!

How did you like Tarpon Pointe?
