Probably compressing the rubber cushions on the base of the struts is the reason for so many turns. However, 8 - 1/4 turns is only two thread pitches which is probably less than 1/4 inch.
Very good! 2 thread pitches. More like a worm gear. Yes, all I needed was 1/4" per offset shown in image. Didn't pay much attention to bottom support but was screwed into marine ply decking there on either side of genset. Could be I bowed it! ‍
 
I had no idea this opened up. Luckily it looked good!

I was going to do the same process but was advised to use a bottle jack and wood to spread out the load. I still have it on my “to do” list. :)
To caution again move that fiberglass structure carefully and slowly. It has taken years for it to settle and gelcoat/FRP is a plastic that will form with time. The last thing you would desire is spider cracking at a sharp transition like between the deck and transom box or a crack at the rim of the engine access hatch...
In the end the deck should have a gentle and consistent crown from beam to beam.

I was at the boat for a work day on Saturday. I’m slowly cutting and buffing and adding a ceramic coating. The cut and buff is a pain in the ass, but the ceramic from Presta is actually pretty easy to work with. I also added some snaps to the new shade for the cockpit cover. :)

Looks nice, how do you like the Presta ceramic? Is this your first time using it? Love the cover, sure it will keep the boat much cleaner.

I really like it. My weekly boat wash guy quoted me $4,500 to cut, buff and wax the boat and wanted an extra $500 for ceramic. I decided to give it a go on my own and I picked up a new Makita rotary, all of the pads (cut, buff & polish) along with the entire Presta line of products. I used traditional wax on a small section and then compared it to the ceramic and they are the same except the ceramic is so much easier to apply and polish. That said, it is a lot of work and I can see why the professionals charge so much. My slip neighbor asked me jokingly how much I would charge him to do his boat. My response was he was free to use the Makita whenever he wanted to use it. ;)

Does one gallon cover the whole boat? Yes I used to polish my boat when I was there in Newport, but no way could I survive and do it here in SoFlo. I have a guy and he likes to try new stuff so might get him a gallon to try on my roof if you think it is worth it.
 
I’m just past the half way mark and I used about 1/3 of the gallon so far. I think the gallon jug will do the whole boat. Presta Marine products are available on Amazon.
 
Nice looking 450 near Savannah TN on the "Great Loop." I think our boats would be perfect to make the Loop with the slightly lower flybridge height needed to clear some of the bridges on the route.

The Looper 450 is a 2004 model and named "TWO T'S AWEIGH." I added her to the registry on the first page.

I'm assuming my potable tank is same place, under 3SR top step. Only way to get to more than the visible top and aft side, would have to remove the steps, far as I can tell. Not sure where that fitting is in your image. Bilge pump in my image is gray water overflow hold, assuming other 450EB's same configuration. Oh, and under my foot below floor level is a AC units condensate header connection that drains into condensate box below aft salon floor hatch. It was replaced with a shop built pvc header as the original was split, leaking. Can't see it without reaching down and snap backwards picture. I think I posted that early on.View attachment 134246

Pretty sure the boards under the 3SR bed come up, but haven't gone that far yet.

Just had mine cut, buff, and sealed. I just couldn't get lower hull to shine evenly, turned out it needed wet sanding. I got a deal as the guy had never done a boat in the water and under-quoted, I kicked him and extra $600 and got out if it for $2200. I'm sure I won't get that deal again. Hoping to keep up with it myself going forward now that my weird hull issue has been fixed.

Have been using Salts Gone since late spring and love the stuff. 15 mins to wash the boat with just spray on/spray off. I wash it with a brush about once a month and it looks great.

They are from Houston, Tx, on trip to Key West and Dry Tortugas. They see our group posts, haven't joined per se, but say they will. I asked if they might snap a pic of their hull # and post it. It's a 2003 model, looks in great shape. I think he said bought it Sept. '21.

Jack - How did you and your boat make out with Ian? We've seen some horrible pictures from FTMyers / Sanibel.

We're up in Burnt Store Marina, about 10 miles north of you. We're floating, some hull damage, dinghy davit damage and we seem to have lost our helm to bow door and window. We also have someone's patio roof in our cockpit.
 
Caught a glimpse of a 450EB entering Riverside Marina at Marco Island, from the yacht club, where we are docked. Grabbed the phone, snapped the distant pic, then hiked on over to it. They are from Houston, Tx, on trip to Key West and Dry Tortugas. They see our group posts, haven't joined per se, but say they will. I asked if they might snap a pic of their hull # and post it. It's a 2003 model, looks in great shape. I think he said bought it Sept. '21.

Jack - How did you and your boat make out with Ian? We've seen some horrible pictures from FTMyers / Sanibel.

We're up in Burnt Store Marina, about 10 miles north of you. We're floating, some hull damage, dinghy davit damage and we seem to have lost our helm to bow door and window. We also have someone's patio roof in our cockpit.
Tks. Posted some under Clubsearay hurricane subgroups. I know of Burnt Store. Club friends have a red tug there. Glad your damage isn't catastrophic. Me, grateful for my hurricane hole harbor at St. Charles YC. No boats lost, floating docks held & intact. Shredded my canvas and some bent structure. Waiting for more closeup pictures to be able to be sent. Miracle safe place while all the other marinas were pretty much destroyed.

Welcome to the group Brian. From the pictures Jack posted, it appears that his helm to bow window is open and still in place along with the door. With you being close by, he might be able to assist getting yours replaced when the time comes. :)
