I am having a semi custom boat built. The builder has been great until I asked to change the waste monitoring system to the Maretron FPM 100 with the correct pressure transducer. The builder uses the WEMA system which I believe uses a standard 5 hole SAE fitting same as the Maretron pressure transducer.

I was told it would be 10k to install the pressure transducer and I would supply the pressure transducer. I would be responsible for the NEMA2000 network and have to sign a disclaimer. Obviously they do not want to do this change order. I am fine with paying a reasonable fee for my modification.

This does not seem complicated, just a simple swap which is easy to do while the boat is being built. What am I missing? Suggestions? Should I just wait until the boat is delivered? Thanks.

Do you mean TLM100? First - pretty much all new builds are based upon a NMEA 2000 data platform so I find it odd that a builder, these days, is basing their new boats on a resistive analog system. Heck, all navigational electronics post 2010 have moved to NMEA 2000 so how is that boat being outfitted? But - whatever...
$10K is off the charts ridiculous for a change like this.
Faced with this I would let the builder complete then do the mod after delivery.

Ttmott, the boat will be run on NEMA2000 etc with the exception of the waste tank. The manufacture does not want my Maretron system commingled with the companies systems which is fine with me as I have big plans for Maretron.

I am going to be using the FPM 100 for this job. I got the idea from this blog, https://mvdirona.com/2018/12/black-water-level-sensor-take-four/
