I have a 2011 240 with the Sony CDX-H910UI radio with the RM-X60ML Remote Commander. I have added a bluetooth adapter but am not really happy with it and don't like how bright the remote is at night. I would like to replace the radio with a built in bluetooth radio but am having trouble finding a radio brand with wired remote that will fit in the area on the current remote. You can see how they molded the dash specifically for the Sony remote. Anyone gone down this path and is happy? Thanks!

The newer Sony headunits use a smaller round remote, RM-X11M.
I am sure u can get/make a round plate that will cover the larger hole and allow use of the smaller remote.

Unless you are married to sony, other systems offer round remotes. They are less functional than the RM-X60ML but the head units will have all the current functionality available.

I couldn’t find a remote to fit the hole, so I replaced my radio with a fusion RA70 and 3 of the ANT Bluetooth remotes. Was my favorite boat mod to date. The Bluetooth connection is rock solid, and I have remotes up front, helm, and transom.

+1 on Fusion with the wireless remotes. I covered an existing clarion hole with the Fusion stick on. Couldn’t be happier with Fusion. It is Garmin after all :)

How big is the hole? Mine was 2” so I put a faria clock in there.

I think the hole for that Sony remote is 3 1/4” . I had to fill most of mine with gel coat to fit another remote without gaps.

Makes it easier to adjust to 5 o’clock!

@shogun95

I just yanked out a few sony remotes. One is spoken for. Let me know if you need one.

Well my radio upgrade is done and was rather easy. Went with a Fusion MS-RA210 with a wireless remote and the 1din adapter plate. Looks 100% like a factory install and found a 3 3/4 fill in plate for the remote hole from Great Lakes Skipper that was a perfect fit and the remote is now attached to it. Was expecting fiberglass/gel coat issues etc. but the install was problem free. Thanks for the input for this project.

I will be upgrading my stereo next year, as well as getting rid of peanut pad, I will keep that set up in mind

Looks great! Do you mind sharing the links to the adapter plate and fill in plate for the remote? I want to do this exact update!

Sure. The adapter plate is made by Fusion for a single din hole which I got from Amazon and the fill in plate came from Great lakes Skipper and is 3 3/4 diameter. Search Amazon for Fusion MS-RA670 Adatper Plate Kit f/755 Series, 750 Series 65. [010-12829-03] Yes, I know it is misspelled but that is what is shows in Amazon. Fill in plate is https://www.greatlakesskipper.com/boat-blank-gauge-filler-3-3-4-inch-black-plastic

Hello. Do you have any pics of the stereo and remotes installed? How is the sound quality now? Thanks

Pictures are right above your question. Sound quality is probably unchanged since I did not replace the speakers with this install. They were replaced a couple years ago. If you still have the original, you need to replace them. The cones on mine were disintegrating.

I’ll try to take some photos this weekend. The sound quality didn’t change, but the system is rock solid now. No fiddling to try and reconnect the Bluetooth and streaming is never choppy.

Did you do something similar for the transom remote? Do the Fusion remotes just stick on with double sided tape or can something more permanent be done? I really like the replacement radio head at the helm. Not worried about it falling off but by the transom could run into problems. Thanks for any help! Have a great day!
