Latest addition to the 48's mobile office in case you haven't followed the other thread. Super happy, can't wait to try it in the Bahamas next month. Now if I can just get my canvas guy to come finish my new rear shade he started and disappeared... :(

What is the monthly subscription cost for this Starlink?

$130 per month and since it’s the mobile version I can pause it when ever I want

Just finished up a 21 day trip around the Chesapeake Bay on our 48. Not that you don't already know this, but what a wonderful boat! So comfortable to live in, easy to drive and dock, functional for entertaining, relatively easy daily system checks. The Admiral and I couldn't be happier!

So here are some summary data from our trip:

Ports of Call: 10
Total Miles: 481
Hours on Engines: 40.2
Average GPH: 8.34
Average MPG: 0.73
Total Gallons of Fuel: 655
Average Price of Fuel: $4.91/gallon

We had beautiful weather for the most part. Our first day on the Bay was a bit sporty and we thought that the cabin was prepared, but obviously that wasn't the case! Jellyfish were pretty bad and had to be dealt with each morning.

Looks like a great Trip!!! Congrats

Here are a few pics from our new (to me) boat, did a 10 day trip from Lake St Clair to the Georgian Bay - North Channel area of Lake Huron (mostly Georgian Bay) mid-Aug. I hit a few of the spots my parents took me to 45 years ago on their 24ft Sundancer. I will say having 2x the boat makes most of it much better!

About 700 miles, a lot of fuel (actually can't give exact amount because pump guage froze and got a couple hundred liters free... ). Around 40 hours run time, so maybe 75% on plane, 2/3rds on the hook (or tied to a rock wall), the rest at a marina.

Next year, a longer trip!

Planning my winterization to be completed 3rd week of October, (ug... I hate winter) I purchased 24 gallons of -60 degree antifreeze. For those in the North that winterize, I am curious as to how many gallons you all use to accomplish complete winterization of motors and water systems?

@JB MARSHALL I typically use 5 gallons per engine, 1 gallon for the generator. On the 48 with the common drain line, I used (if I remember correctly) about 5 gallons for the AC units: three units on one pump and 1 unit on the other pump.

I use my air compressor to blow out water from the water lines, but then I usually add 5-10 gallons to the water tank and push it through the system, with the HWH bypassed. This is my big "variable" useage. I try to capture some of the AF from some drains to then put through the bilge pumps.

I just checked the price of -50 Deg F Anti-Freeze on the West Marine site. WOW!!!!! $9.99/Gallon. That's a bump.

So to answer your question: I'll buy 30 gallons just to be safe. I'll keep a couple of gallons on the boat to flush toilets if I stay on the boat during the winter.

So been fighting all summer with these damn vent window actuators. One would work and another would stop. Thought I fixed them a year ago when I found broken connection….guess not. Was planning to deal with this over the winter when someone posted this link on another thread (sorry not sure which one or who…but props to whom ever). Wow…cheap $70 bucks for both. Decided what the hell give them a chance since it is relatively easy to change if they shit the bed.

OC, Which one (model #) did you purchase and did you have to pull down a ceiling panel in the salon to access the motor to wire the new actuators?

last week I extended (by mistake) one of the vent windows and then it would not close. I knew this from another member who experienced this and said it creates a problem. So I banged it with a hard hand over the motor and it worked when I activated the switch (whew). Dodged a bullet on that one.

4” stroke is the size you need. No everything is accessed from the top, just cut the silicone and lift off the cover you have full access to everything. The wire connectors just tuck back in that hole. Simple to replace just take a little time to clean the old silicone and reseal.

@formula dave I'm considering replacing the microwave as the turntable no longer works after encountering some rough seas. You said you put in a Breville. Is this the one?

https://www.amazon.com/Breville-Mic...den&sprefix=breville+3+in+,aps,75&sr=1-1&th=1

Some friends on a Sea Ray 520 just put in a GE 3-in-1 model
https://www.amazon.com/GE-Counterto...c2-a0c2-f1608580265d&pd_rd_i=B09W4GL91J&psc=1

Then I found a Toshiba
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HKM5SVD/ref=syn_sd_onsite_desktop_24?ie=UTF8&pd_rd_plhdr=t&th=1

The price range from $219, $259, and $473 (the Breville). The one thing that I see as a differentiator is that the Toshiba has an inverter so that it modulates the microwave energy rather than turning it ON and OFF to simulate something less than 100% power. I can't tell if the Breville has that or not. I'm pretty sure that the GE does not.

Just curious as to your thoughts, and anyone else that would like to chime in. The cost is not a driving factor. Thanks.

You might pull it out and take it apart. You would be amazed sometimes how easy and cheap it is to fix some appliances. Most parts are easily available and reasonably priced. I have fixed plenty over the years…

Has anyone experienced getting something like a dirty water stain on the port side roof speaker liner by the kitchen area, I just noticed one on mine any common places where water might be coming from?
Thanks
