Ceramic coating recommendation.... for a car

Help me understand…… why bother?

He is 25.
His new car is his first significant purchase and he wants to keep it as nice as possible.
(I blame myself for some of this). I am incredibly proud of his accomplishments and so is he.

Ahh. Sorry I misunderstood your question.
@ttmott said it..
Ceramic on wheels and calipers is supposed to protect them from the brake dust, etc and allow them to clean much easier

Something tells me you didn't apply it properly, if you did it. My bil had his 46 Cruisers done 3 years ago by DaVinci. 3 day process to do the entire boat not just the hull. All he uses deionized water and a brush to clean it. He has a deionizer gizmo on his dock water. His boat sparkles.

This product is awesome once the car has been ceramic coated. I reapply every few months to keep my black Porsche gleaming. I Highly recommend it.

Likely a silly question

Is there any benefit to ceramic coating either before or after the XPEL is applied?

Hey…. You can’t start out a discussion with “I did it wrong”…. Blue hulls oxidize like it’s their job…. All they want to do is go grey and chalky …. Putting icing over it does not stop it…. That was my point … there is no silver bullet for blue

The coating would go on after the XPEL. Maybe not as necessary but it still cleans super easy.

Tesla's are known for soft paint so we did as much as possible to protect it. We do 90% highway miles. Still looks like new, there are chips and scrapes in the expel but still gleaming white underneath so its has done its job.

I read this and think I dodged a bullet.
When I was boat shopping I loved the blue hull, but was concerned about upkeep.
Reminds me of black cars, IMO nothing looks better than a clean black car. Which lasts about 30 seconds after you wash it....

Well, that all depends. My blue hull is as deep rich blue as it was 15 years ago. I get compliments everywhere I go. But I take excellent care of it including a wash after I use it. Each Spring it's hauled out and gets a full wash, compound and wax.

no disrespect intended.

Thanks again for all the replies.
He wound up getting the paint corrected then XPEL on all but the back portion of the roof.
Also had wheels and calipers ceramic coated (gyeon I believe).
Saw the car today and it looks amazing.
He already has a small rock ding in the film, so it obviously is doing its job.
https://www.detailersdomain.com/ did the work. They did a great job.

That PPF was the first ever to be self healing. That rock ding will go away with time.

My bil's hull is also dark blue. Looks new and it's a 2008.

This is the company. https://davinciofmichigan.com/
