I have an older (1997) trim tab system with 2 rectangular indicators that don't work -I would like to upgrade or find replacements for the 2 rectangular indicators that are away from and separate from the trim switches- aside from a completely new 9000 system- will a 5000 series tie into the 2 leads ( red and green) that currently run to the dashboard so I don't have to completely disassemble the existing trim tubes--- thank you in advance- 19ed50

Your best bet is to given Bennett a call and ask them. They had a representative on the CSR site for years under the user name of Tabman. He was great and unfortunately passed away a few years ago.

I believe the sensors for the standard system are the same between the older integrated one and the new style integrated ones. The ones with the seperate indicator from the switches, can't help you with. The connector plug is what is different, I believe. Where it goes off the rails is where the NEMA 2000 is used.

My last boat had the older system and this one is the 5000. Have the manuals for both and a ton of info if needed.

Contacting Bennett aint what it used to be. I had a problem with my new brand 5000 system. The "tech" spent a week having me measure the trim tabs and chasing answers to his "hydraulics" questions. The problem was the electronic unit was going off line all the time (bad head unit) and had zip to do with tab size, placement and hydraulics. He just wanted me to upgrade my brand new 5000 system to the super dooper auto trim control one. ARgh....

If you want a quick, precise answer from them , good luck.

Bill- thank you- I have the 2 leads (red and green) that go all the way to the helm- each lead has 3 thin wires within it, 2 similarly colored and one ground- they are butt spliced to identical wires coming from the control box- 2 red, 2 green and 1 ground- so does your wiring match this condition- if so then I would need the control module and the switch assembly and be able to splice my leads to the control module- hopefully -Ed

Bill- talked to Bennett- okay to use 5000 series with existing leads- once again -thank you-Ed

Bill- sorry to recontact you- seems that newer plugs are involved- should I be able to butt connect my older leads and switch wires to the newer plugs- Ed
