So after 3 years of looking for the right new boat for me, the day finally came yesterday. Now granted I was not hot the trail, just patiently waiting for the right one. It's a 2014 Cobalt R5 that I bought from an older fellow I had gotten to know - the boat sits across from mine in the dry storage. He is 80 and getting out of boating, although part of the deal is I will take him out now and then. Buying this boat from him is the easiest buy or sell transaction I have ever done. I don't plan to leave Club Searay, although I am spending time now on the Cobalt Chat forum. In true Club Searay spirit, if there are no pictures it didn't happen - here is a picture.

The one downside to a transaction like this is I now have two boats! The 185 will be up for sale soon - it's going to make someone a nice little boat. 23yrs, 800hrs and who knows how many miles and hours it has never left me stranded and still looks and runs like a champ.

It's ok you can stay. Nobody kicked me off the site. Since my Sea Ray's I have had/have a Tiara,Scout, and a Crownline.

Nice boat I was looking for a R6 but they where only out so no used ones really like the fit and finish of them. Any interior pics?

Look at all of us exiles still hanging around here. Says something about this site for sure.

Congratulations. That's a VERY nice step up from your old boat. Can't go wrong with a Cobalt.

Congrats! It's a beauty and looks to have been well taken care of.

Those are very nice boats. Dock neighbor has a 2015 or 2016 but not sure the model. It's a 25' open bow. Red and white with tan pleated interior. His has the 496. It actually quit running on him last weekend. 2nd or 3rd time that has happened but that isn't a Cobalt issue

Very nice! Congratulations. I love the lines. A Cobalt would be my choice for the next boat. But ours has been so good. Still runs like a top, has more storage than we can use and drives like a sports car. Hope you enjoy it! And you're welcome to stay here, the more the merrier, as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. This will be the first boat I have had in 23yrs that was not a SeaRay. Lots of new stuff to learn, especially regarding the Volvo Penta engine/drive. This forum is great, and while folks here probably are not as interested in a Cobalt with a Volvo engine, I have not forgotten the 20+ years of SeaRay / Mercruiser ownership that I can still contribute. I love hearing people be excited about my new boat -- I have shown it to a few non-boater friends and they just don't get it. To them it's like I just bought a new SUV!

Right now at 58 I am like when I was a kid and got a new bike for Christmas!
