Hose clamps that are not meat hooks - the aircraft way

That is a good question, Im guessing you just have to use dykes and maybe damage hose in the process
That's what I was thinking.

Kind of wondering how you get it tightened to a specific tension? Some of my hose clamps state to tighten to specific torque value. Granted that is for bigger engine clamps.

Interesting, how do you remove it though?
I did a couple in the garage this afternoon. A pretty neat way to clamp hoses and very "clean" looking. They recommend 0.040 stainless wire - I'd go heavier for hoses like sanitation or AC raw water as those are not too pliable.
Super easy to remove the clamp - pry up and over the two wire ends and the bail just unwinds.
Obviously, one time use so these wouldn't be practical for clamps we need to periodically remove. Not a good solution for tight areas as the tool needs to rotate around the hose to fold the wire over the bail.

Pretty cool Tom. Let me know your thoughts after you get it and try it. I agree might be an issue in tight places. I love the universal application

That is a cool tool for sure. I have seen a lot of safety wire clamps in my day done with standard twist safety wire pliers. I never really looked into the airworthiness standards in terms of what is legal for standard category aircraft. I would see this mainly on experimental aircraft. The wire definitely gives a better seal than worm drive clamps especially on smaller diameter hoses. Great Share Tom

I saw this tool few years ago at a boat show. Loved it the minute I saw it. Bought without hesitating, as I know that it can save the day, when you least expect it. So, it's always in my toolbox.

I have to admit that that lady did very nice and easy presentation. Definitely beats following the instructions it comes with.

I wasn't planning to replace my hose clamps with it, but it's sure a pretty good plan B.

My only thought is wouldn't the wires cut through hose easier than a traditional hose clamp?

That’s a slick looking tool, the finished product is very clean looking. Not sure I could make it work me, though…..I’m sure I’d have the wires on the wrong side, wire would brake when I was tightening it, or when it was tight I’d realize the wire somehow had slipped through my ring, and now I’m part of the clamp……o_O I’ve got a really nice set of nut drivers t(at works really well on stainless clamps, I’d miss using them!

Saw this at boat show as well, pretty cool idea, much like using safety wire. I wouldn't use this in place of real hose clamps, in fact I've started replacing all of my standard hose clamps with t-bolt clamps and keep spares of them all. That said this a great emergency tool and you don't need to worry about the exact size.

Hose clamps have worked for ages.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

You had mechanics wire?

We just had previously used baling wire.
When I was a kid every once in a while my Dad would have a 'this is how we used to do it' moment. Sometimes just a story, sometimes a demonstration. I wish I'd have paid more attention to some of it. You no doubt learned how to cut wire without any tools too, that can come in handy.
