58 Sedan Bridge Official Thread

Chris - it's not too bad, but a second pair of hands is necessary. Lay a towel over the helm where the compass is, start removing screws (Susan is my 2nd pair of hands). As you remove the last two screws, Susan holds the panel in place and then we remove it and set it face down on the towels. All connectors are long enough. As an aside, when I had a horn air leak, I found my air compressor tank back there - my manual shows it in the ER next to the pump.

I had to remove mine 4-5 times this spring. I developed a way to hold it up with an elbow/forearm while taking out the last screws. It stays in place pretty well with some light pressure.

What I've found is a lot of Sea Ray documentation for our boats is actually for the 2005 55DB - basically the same boat without the hydraulic swim platform. But for '06 and subsequent some items were moved - the air compressor for one.

It does, but putting it back helps to have Susan "stuffing cables" back in ahead of me as I lift it into place.

It does help that way more! I rarely get spring commission help.

On a side note I believe we will be in your winter location in January for a few days. We are taking a catamaran cruising course with offshore sailing. I have sailed my whole life, but my wife wants to learn more before we charter and potentially buy a catamaran for long term cruising.

Where? Out of SouthSeas or Pink Shell?

Ken

Cape Coral. I can't recall the Marina name, but there is a Westin Hotel and condo surrounding it. If I recall correctly that is where @carterchapman had his 58 when he brought it to FL for winter.

I have boated by it several times with my parents on our way to what was Rum Runners restaurant for lunches. Last I heard they closed, but my parents gave up their FL boat 2 years ago.

My wife is doing the learn to sail over the weekend and then we take a catamaran for 5 days.

Tarpon point. Rum Runners is open again. Just new owners.

Off Shore Schools are mainly out of SouthSeas and Pink Shell, you may be using someone else.

Let us know as Cape Coral is our home.

Tarpon Point is where it is. They operate out of all three locations, the catamaran is docked at Tarpon Point so that is where we leave from and she takes her learn to sail course.

My parents live on Sanibel, we are in the area frequently just not with our own boat.

Mine is not that way. The rollers are about $140 each(need 4) from Taylormade. Here's a source for $20 each. A dockmates was hard to moved and sounded "metal on metal" - he ordered these and I talked him through the change,,,

I wonder if your tracks are not parallel the last 6"??

Check out the track and found a plastic wedge tapes o the bottom of the track. Took it off and works perfect now.
Next problem. I went for short ride today and came back to the marina and am connecting to shore power. I am plugged in exactly as I left but the shore power 2 doesn’t power up. Works fine on generator. I have to be missing something.

Yep just figured it out. Thanks. What is the shore 2 breaker. Mine is labeled 50 amp 125 only. Sorry I’m not good at electrical.
You can use two shore power cords; one for the 240 side and one for the 110 side. We only use the 240 50 amp cord and cross over with the generator 110 breaker.

Only time this becomes an issue for us is when running the drier and 4 AC's. I just shut off one or two of the AC's when running the drier.

Those panels are different from ours... We have no shore 2, etc... just a single shore or gen.

FLYBRIDGE STEREO

I'm getting to lower priority stuff...

Was there any "standard" schema for hooking up all the bridge/outside stereo speakers? We have a Clarion CMD8 (maybe a replacement for the original?) with dual outputs: two front, two combo rear/sub. I can track that... and I have the manual.

Then there's a JL Audio M800/8v2 amplifier and a JL Audio M600/1 subwoofer amp. I have the manuals. (The main amp manual is a little slow to identify when it's speaking about input channels versus output channels... but I can work through that.)

Anyway. We have ten pairs of HF speakers. Four overhead speakers on the bridge. Two overhead in the cockpit. Two on the transom. (Who ever thought of that as a good idea?) Two on the bow. Any clue about how the 5 HF speaker pairs might have been assigned to the amp's 8 (4 pairs) output channels?

My guess might be the 4 on the bridge = channels 1/2. Each of the other pairs, maybe channels 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 respectively.

??

I know I can test a bit, but at the moment the Remote Level Control isn't perfectly cooperating... and the transom speaker pair is leaking rust, no soundee...

As I said I never have educated myself on electric so don’t let this be to stupid to you. So I plug in the 30 amp cord (I didn’t think it looked like another 50 but I’ll check) in the outlet in the back to a hookup on a power pedestal and then turn on the shore 2 to get extra power? I also need to order 3 green lights from flounder pounder. That will help to know what’s on.

side note. Figured it out. It is 50 amp. Did not try to plug in but after sleeping on it I get it now.
Thanks All
