2000 5.7 cylinder head replacement

You really should have the service manual, do you have the engine serial number,
 
Yep regular digital light or one with a dial works, after you lock it into base mode
 
So a timing light hooked to number #1 adjust timing to notch on balancer and your good to go. is there anything else that need to be done. You set this at an idle or a different RPM
 
Connect a paper clip into A and B on the harness that the scanner connects to. Get the rpm's around 1800
 
Had to laugh at myself when I figured out what Mercury was calling a timing tool . So if you call it a tool it raises the price of it. I guess I'll go with the paper clip method.
