I had family in town and they wanted to go out on the boat. It had been a while since we had taken it out so I put some muffs on it and ran it at home for a bit. Everythiong was fine on the dash but the water pump seemed to be making noise. We took it out anyway and to no surprise we over heated. The second the alarm came on I shut it down. To my surprise when I opened the engine cover there was a lot of oil in the bilge. The oil pressure never dropped. is it possible over heating cause the engine to push oil out of somewhere. I haven't have a chance to dig into it yet. Other than cracked the block or an issue with the remote oil filter where could the oil have come from?

We had a similar oil issue on last vessel. We had oil in the bilge under the port main, but you could fire her up, and everything seemed fine, but we were not running her at WOT, either. We did nerd to add additional oil to the main, so it was obvious we had a leak. Further investigation revealed the oil cooling tubes were leaking. Sorry to report it was an expensive repair. Engine had to unbolted and raised up a bit to replace oil cooling system, so labor was high. Sigh, sign, sign, but did not squelch our love of boating, we had that vessel for years afterward, sold her, and have another Sea Ray now. Chalked up to ‘the occasional cost of having fun’!! Still loving it!:D
