I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s. My parents last boat in 1993 was a 34’ Sundancer. I loved that boat and my dream boat was the 390 express. Even today I look at them and think it’s one of the most beautiful sport yachts ever built.

May question is, how foolish would it be to buy an 86-89 390 Express? What should I be looking for to know if it’s a solid purchase? How many engine hours is acceptable before they need to be replaced?

thanks and I hope to become a regular user of the site.

Welcome! Lot's of content here on this forum. There are dedicated threads to the models you've mentioned above I do believe.

Nobody can really tell you how many hours are acceptable as it depends on the boat, how it was used and how well it was cared for. A good hull survey and engine inspection (by professionals) will give you what you need before you purchase.

Enjoy the hunt!

I don't think it's foolish at all. I had an 88' with 454's and it was a great boat with tons of room and a lot of bang for the buck. As mentioned just do your due-diligence.

Hello sir, i am very sorry i could not make a post. Can you please help me? my uncle bought a second hand Searay built year 2007. Unfortunately I am having problems identifying the model of the boat since it looks just like a Sundancer 260 and only difference is instead of the cabin inside there is an open space (couch) for sunbathing in the front. Can you please help me define it?

You may consider the 400 EC as well. Friend of mine has the 390, so I've had a chance to compare the two. Inside of the 400 seems more roomy although the boat is not that bigger on the outside.
